I specialize in treating anxiety, panic, and OCD, with a strong foundation in both psychodynamic work and in evidence-based approaches like CBT and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).
I work best with thoughtful, curious people who feel stuck in patterns they know aren’t working — but can’t quite seem to change. Many of my clients are high-achieving, insightful, and often hard on themselves; they live in their heads, think in loops, and wrestle with anxiety, perfectionism, or long-standing habits that once kept them safe but now feel like cages. If you find yourself asking big questions — about meaning, purpose, identity, or why your mind works the way it does — I offer a space where we can explore both the practical and the profound.

More importantly, for problems like anxiety, panic, PTSD, OCD, and more, it simply works.
When we try to control or avoid anxiety, thoughts, memories, and difficult emotions it doesn't work. Troubling thoughts and memories keep intruding, depression worsens, panic attacks happen more, and urges to do troubling compulsions or rituals become stronger. The funny thing is every other situation in daily life avoiding and fixing problems is very effective, such as fixing a flat tire so we can drive again or leaving town to avoid a hurricane. When we try this with our thoughts and feelings we get stuck, feel hopeless, and continue to suffer. Estranging us from the people, places, and activities that we cared about most.

I work with teens and adults aged 14 and older who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, anger, ADHD, and/or obsessive, intrusive thoughts, communication skills, life transitions, individuals who have been in high control environments, or parents who could benefit from a fresh set of skills.
Hello, my name is Catherine, and I am accepting new clients in Oregon. I view counseling as a professional, collaborative relationship where we will work together to create and achieve your goals. I help break down the untrue, unhelpful messages we are constantly hearing from society. My experience includes working with folks of all ages; especially teens and young and middle adults. Whether you’re experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression, ADHD, anything in between, or just struggling with a transition or communication - therapy is a great place to be.

A diagnosis of OCD or another anxiety disorder can be scary and confusing.
My specialty is in working with people who experience OCD. The clients I work with are diverse. I often integrate the science and art of mind-body practices as an addition to therapy. My clinical approach is rooted in CBT, ERP, and ACT and is informed by an anti-oppressive/anti-racist and pro queer/LGBTQ+ approach with a focus on my client’s strengths.

I serve individuals and couples for various concerns, with interest in queer and BIPOC identities, trauma, leaving religion, ADHD, OCD, autism, anxiety, depression.
It can feel overwhelming and hopeless trying to deal with life’s many curveballs, especially when you feel misunderstood, fall behind, or fall through the cracks. I see therapy as a space where we can exercise the weird paradox of accepting where we are and what we’ve dealt with while striving for growth and change. Healing can happen when we see our challenges as approaches that may have helped us to adapt to the world, and we can glean strength and tools from that compassionate understanding.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
