I believe each individual has both the capacity and the right to change and to grow. It is my duty to be aware of the whole person and never to reduce him or her to a mental health challenge or diagnosis. Whole people have their own set of circumstances physically, emotionally, educationally and spiritually as well as other facets. I subscribe to a meta-approach. I employ multiple types of treatment modalities. I take these and with the person being served, weave a set of treatments that will best address whatever needs are being presented as obstacles to thriving.

I help people living with depression, self-identity struggles, grief, trauma and have experience working within LGBTQIA+ and ethical non-monogamous communities. The children I see have/are experiencing abuse, behavior concerns, and life stressors. My role as a therapist is to offer authentic and genuine reflections and to help strengthen your mental capacity and confidence to handle internal and external stressors. I believe we all have a story to tell, some intertwined with tragedy and challenges, and that our time together is for you to tell yours. Note: I don't work with insurance companies; only out of pocket.

As a therapist, I specialize in working with highly sensitive individuals, those eager to explore spirituality in depth, therapists, creative minds and individuals striving to enhance their roles as partners in relationships. My core therapeutic approach is rooted in mindfulness shaped by my intensive training in a Buddhist Monastery where I honed my meditation skills and embraced prolonged periods of introspective silence. Sometimes, we want to make changes but struggle with unknown parts of ourselves that seem to stop us. Habits, life long patterns and unconscious beliefs can hold us back from living the life that we long for. It takes time and courage to examine our belief system and reach out for what we really want. As a therapist, I follow the process of each individual. Clients are viewed on a spectrum of health, rather than through a lens of pathology. This approach creates a very curious and creative focus that encourages growth at the client’s own pace.

As a mom who has struggled in my own relationship with a bold, spirited, or deeply sensitive child (ages 8-13), I understand how heavy this can feel. When daily life is filled with power struggles, emotional outbursts, or walking on eggshells, it can affect your relationships, confidence, & sense of self. Many parents wonder if a calmer, more connected relationship is possible, one where they feel capable and their child can thrive. Today, many moms feel anxious & uncertain about supporting a child with ADHD, especially when intensity or sensitivity takes over the home. You are not alone.

Finding trustworthy professionals to help you with intimate issues is embarrassing and difficult. Therapy should be a safe space for this when you can find it nowhere else. This is my most important skill, something not learned in school: unconditional positive acceptance and honest, non-threatening communication about intimate problems. Here you will find sensitivity to private behaviors which are regarded with non-judgmental acceptance and respect, never shame nor intolerance.

How does neuro-linguistic programming work?
A therapist using Neuro-linguistic programming might start by building a strong rapport and gathering information about the client’s objectives and any problem areas. Then the NLP therapist will employ NLP techniques to guide their client toward healthier thoughts and behaviors. Clients will learn how to better manage their moods and hone their communication skills. NLP will conclude with the therapist and client making a plan for how to integrate the positive changes into their daily life in the future.

What are some techniques used in neuro-linguistic programming?
NLP therapists often employ anchoring, so the client begins to automatically associate their trigger with a healthier response. Clients also learn how to reframe a situation to change the way they react to it for the better, and how to replace the negative beliefs that are holding them back. Many NLP clients practice visualization or forming a mental image of themselves attaining their goals. Every NLP therapist will have their own preferred approach with specific techniques that they have found to be helpful for their clients.

How long does neuro-linguistic programming take?
Since neuro-linguistic programming is not regulated, the length of treatment can vary greatly. Some therapists may only use NLP in a single session, while others may employ it over the course of weeks, months, or even years. It depends greatly on the type and severity of the problem being treated, as well as the individual client’s response to NLP treatment.

Is neuro-linguistic programming evidence-based?
While some people may find neuro-linguistic programming helpful, either in therapy or in their career or personal development, the science behind this approach is inconclusive. Most of the available studies are small in scale and have produced mixed results, and the commercial nature of NLP lends itself to conflicts of interest. More research is needed. In the meantime, practitioners must use their best judgment of whether NLP techniques will be helpful in meeting their clients’ individual needs.
