Narcissistic abuse is about the loss and damage of your identity. It is the psychologically abusive relationship you are in or the heartbreaking childhood you grew up with that has now left you suicidal and ashamed. Narcissistic abuse recovery is about discovering and reclaiming your identity and life purpose. It is about making you whole and empowered to live the life you would hope to live. It is about setting up boundaries and learning how to take care of yourself. Most importantly, it is about bringing generations of abuse and dysfunction to an end. We will get to the root of the issue. There is hope for your life.

I work with adults who have experienced trauma, including childhood abuse/neglect, narcissistic abuse, domestic violence, migration-related trauma, Complex PTSD, and anxiety and depression.
The willingness to seek support is a courageous step in acknowledging the strength of our vulnerability. Humans were meant to heal together. It is in relation with one another that we discover the necessary connection and compassion to heal past wounds and navigate the challenging circumstances of an unjust society. Unfortunately many of us are also hurt in relationships and struggle to feel safe with others or even know what safety looks like. Therefore, in our sessions we will work together to build a safe and compassionate environment where we can feel heard and seen as we move through our pain accompanied by another.

We all have our own story, the things that make us unique in the tapestry of human experiences. What motivates me in counseling people is how we cope with trauma, overcome adversity, and our resilience in the face of difficult circumstances. Finding a way to create meaning, and live a full authentic life is central to my goals in supporting clients. I focus on existential and feminist frameworks to support clients in developing their sense of worth and purpose in life. Working with me we will address attachment and relational dynamics, boundaries and the patterns present in your life that may be keeping you “stuck.”

Are you confused? Exhausted? Scared? I can help. I have a unique understanding of unhealthy relationships and how they operate. Most relationships start out hopeful and happy. Many turn at some point and this is where confusion lives. My philosophy is simple...break down where it went wrong and rebuild from there. This takes a lot of work, and a lot of commitment, I won't sugar-coat...but it can be done. Or, perhaps you have issues with non-intimate relationships, maybe a parent, sibling, or child. Or maybe your child has conflicts with your ex. This too can be made healthier.

Waitlist Only (email is the best way to get in touch) - Do you feel like you're doing "everything right" yet you still feel like something is "off"? Somehow you feel both anxious and depressed at the same time yet you can't pinpoint why? Or maybe you can pinpoint why - you just received an unwanted diagnosis, a loved one passed away, you're dealing with past trauma, going through a divorce, or trying to adjust from living at home to living in a dorm. Maybe in an effort to cope, you've turned to alcohol, food or some other escape. But you're tired of just surviving and you're ready to start thriving.

I love working with diverse people from a variety of backgrounds. I focus not only on personal growth, but also on improving relationships with romantic partners, family members, and friends. I love working with couples to end negative cycles, heal wounds, and deepen connection. My background as a professional musician and record producer also allows me a deep understanding of issues faced by creative people, including tension between creative drive and other commitments, struggles with creative partners, and feeling unfulfilled when your creative energy is drained by your day job.

As a seasoned psychoanalyst, my job is make therapy comfortable for you to discuss your concerns. I work with you to find out what you desire from life and to help you to achieve that. Issues may be specific or there may be a general sense of un-ease. Together, we explore and understand the obstacles that inhibit knowing and attaining what is desired, or obstacles that get in the way of connection with others. PRESENTLY, I am interested in talking with those who are interested in GROUP therapy; preferably those who have had some therapy experience, and/or are presently in therapy. I'm not accepting new individual referrals.

Whether you are seeking psychoanalysis at a time of crisis or from a desire to deepen your awareness of self, this process will meet you where you are and where you are willing to go. It is very much a dyadic experience attuned to your specific psychological needs. Jungian analysis believes in the self regulating aspect of ourselves that lies within us all. This process is designed to realize your authentic self in the world.

Reaching out for help demonstrates inner strength and willingness to face various life challenges. As an immigrant, accessing resources and services that feel inclusive and culturally sensitive is challenging. My journey in healing as an individual, a mother, and a caring community member has sparked a desire to provide culturally sensitive care to people from all walks of life. Although many clients have experienced marginalization due to their background as an immigrant (BIPOC, MENA, AMEMSA), other clients have realized numerous privileges in their life and felt a sense of inclusion and reconciliation within the larger community.

I believe that everyone wants to feel loved, appreciated & valued. I enjoy helping individuals and couples identify repeating lifelong patterns that prevent this from happening. Sometimes life can be confusing and frustrating and it can feel that you have tried everything to "fix" a feeling/situation/self belief and can end up feeling pretty hopeless though I can help you to identify your strengths, provide support and work with you so that you can lead the life you currently are dreaming about.

Narcissistic Personality (NPD) Therapists

What type of therapy is best for narcissistic personality disorder?

Narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is best treated with talk therapy, which could involve cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, schema therapy, gestalt therapy, or similar approaches. A therapist will help a patient uncover the feelings that may drive their behavior and discover how to engage with themselves and those around them with greater empathy and understanding, fewer demands, and less defensiveness, with the goal of developing a more authentic sense of self that enables healthier relationships.

How do therapists treat NPD?

By developing a strong therapeutic relationship, and continually focusing patients on relationships, community, and connection, a therapist, through talk therapy, may be able to help someone with NPD change. In sessions, a therapist will help an individual achieve relief from their current stressors, including the treatment of co-occurring conditions such as anxiety or depression. A therapist may also help an individual to recognize unhealthy coping mechanisms, learn new ways of interacting with others, and eventually become able to feel and display empathy.

Can a narcissist be cured with therapy?

Therapy can be effective. After a serious setback or great loss, someone with NPD may be forced to recognize that they are not immune to life’s challenges. That can spur feelings of melancholy and depression that lead them to seek professional help. Once an individual decides to seek help, they have already taken a step that the majority of those with NPD never will. Still, people with NPD often quit therapy as they naturally resist feeling vulnerable, being challenged, or admitting to flaws.

How can you get narcissistic personality disorder treatment for someone?

It is notoriously difficult to convince someone with NPD to seek help. With their feelings of superiority, they may be unlikely to recognize or acknowledge that they have a problem, or that their problem is narcissism. Sometimes, they are aware that they are arrogant and that others resent them but they don’t see it as a problem because they are convinced of their superiority. People with NPD have trouble maintaining relationships, but family members and others who do feel close to them, and whose presence they value, may be able to encourage them to seek therapy.
