Leadership Skills, Performance Enhancement and Life Coaching.
One strategy (called mindfulness) that I particularly encourage involves learning to become focused on the present moment, not judging ourselves so harshly, and treating ourselves and others with compassion. This has proved remarkably successful in allowing my clients to navigate with confidence through difficult situations at work, at home, and in relationships.

I understand the current neuroscience research that discusses the impact that attachment trauma, childhood trauma, and life stressors can have on the body and mind, while also understanding this from a parts perspective.
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in Oregon. I teach concrete tools that help you feel grounded, calm, and capable. Neuroscience research shows that these tools help you manage and decrease mental health symptoms. Currently working as a wellness coach/counselor and not as a mental health therapist through my website.

I work best with folks who are interested in exploring their identities, looking into family of origin and its impact on present self, and people experiencing life transitions (divorce, custody, parenting, estrangement, grief/loss).
I spent much of my career supporting teens/young adults, as a coach and teacher; the last 5+ years focused mainly on working with adults. I currently support folks and their loved ones navigate chronic and terminal illnesses. Outside of work, I love to garden, go on walks/hikes, travel, read, cook, woodwork, and support my kids with their activities.

As a result of your work in therapy, life can feel richer, relationships closer and more rewarding, and stressors less overwhelming, and more manageable.
I use an eclectic and holistic approach to meet you where you are. We might use approaches influenced by Carl Jung, somatic and body centered techniques, guided relaxation, energy work, or spiritually based approaches to facilitate change. We might also use brief, targeted CBT based techniques to build resilience.

I work with couples in crisis and individuals facing depression, life transitions, and/or other life challenges.
By the time couples come to my door, they often are trying their 3rd or 4th therapist. My approach tends to be more comprehensive as sessions are 90 minutes or two hours in length.

Reflecting on the what brought you here, clarifying where you actually are in life, who you are, and what you want, and then doing the real work to get you on the road toward the life and relationships you want.
Most people come to me during times of transition or when something has reached a level of discomfort that they can no longer avoid dealing with it - a relationship, a move, an overwhelming feeling. They are ready and interested in talking about what is going on in the hopes of experiencing relief, change, and a better future.

So many of us feel stuck while longing for life to change for the better.
Setting up our lives to achieve our goals and build the life we want is a set of skills; having an ADHD or neuro-spicy brain can make those skills feel elusive and exhausting. I walk clients through the process of learning how to mindfully manage life with a specific focus on integrating both brain and body!

Life Coaching Therapists

What can I expect from life coaching?

Clients and coaches will typically start by identifying the problem area(s) that the client hopes to address—then, the coach will help the client brainstorm potential solutions and explore concrete techniques to help the client attain their goals. Coaching is typically short-term and focused on finding solutions in the here and now, rather than exploring a client’s past. In addition to strategies aimed at the client’s specific concerns, coaches may encourage general stress management techniques such as meditation.

Can a life coach help treat anxiety?

Because the majority of life coaches are not licensed clinicians, they are not qualified to diagnose or treat anxiety. Anyone struggling with anxiety or another mental health condition should seek help from a licensed mental health practitioner. However, some coaching clients who struggle with subclinical anxiety report that working with their coach on other problems—such as career dissatisfaction or unhealthy habits—has a positive effect on their anxiety.

Can life coaching be done online?

Yes. While life coaching often happens in person, many coaches conduct sessions over the phone or via online platforms such as Zoom or Skype. Because life coaches are not subject to local licensing regulations in the same way that therapists are, they are able to see clients who live in other locations.

How long does life coaching last?

Life coaching tends to be a shorter-term process than therapy, though it does not always unfold over a specific period of time and is instead based on the coach’s or the client’s preferences. Coaching often takes place over three to 12 months but may be shorter or longer if necessary.
