I have a special interest in working with anxiety, depression, grief , self-esteem, and trauma.
I provide a focused and understanding space that supports you opening to your own aliveness and your voice. I bring my full attention, my honest feeling, and I will share what I see will help you. Often our first response to misfortune is to fight against it. While we may have skillful ways of doing this, our efforts nevertheless become futile and disconnect us from others. Our energy gets bound up, we get stuck in elusive cycles. However, our truths are complex and deserve to be recognized.

My specialities are grief & loss , depression & anxiety, individual discovery and transformation.
All sessions are currently online due to COVID. With so many adjustments it is unclear what my future practice will be in terms of online/in-person. Certified in one of today's most effective integrative counseling methods, Hakomi Therapy and EMDR, I work with you to re-awaken your aliveness. I provide caring, deep counseling for individuals. We study patterns and core beliefs in a way that opens them up or allows them to fall away. One client described my technique as "the most direct route to problems she had ever seen." I work with and enjoy working with individuals, couples, families, and children. The populations I frequently work with are people of color, marginalized people, those who have experienced the loss of a loved one, loss of a job, or loss of a relationship, and post partum mothers. The issues my clients typically face and experience are trauma, loss , and grief . Many of the clients I see have gone to therapy in the past and have experienced poor results or are those who have never been to therapy before and find that for the first time that they need someone to talk to about issues that they are experiencing.

Real transformation often begins when you're suffering intensely. The intense suffering breaks through your hesitation to change at a core level. You don't have a choice anymore. Dark material surfaces: emotional and physical trauma, religious trauma, loss , anxiety, spiritual crisis, meaninglessness, depression, and illness. Imagine that the symptoms you're suffering from are calling you home to a new way of living and being. I bring a high level of clinical experience, training, and compassion to my work. I am truly interested in you, how you got to this difficult point, and how to connect you to your authentic self.

Grief is involved in any life change, whether that change is welcome or unwelcome, abrupt or expected. Grief is part of being human, yet our society struggles to acknowledge and support it. You might arrive grieving the death of a family member or friend, the end of a relationship, or even anxiety or depression that only seems to grow. Perhaps you are grieving previous life events you wish had never happened, or the life you lived before the pandemic. My expertise is in providing a place for your grief to land—a place for you to not have to be ok. And in doing this, I help people process grief so it does not define their lives.

Hi, I'm Becca! I provide individual telehealth therapy to adults and teens ages 16+ who are experiencing grief and loss , relational challenges, stress, depression, anxiety, and the effects of trauma. I enjoy working with clients who are ready to dive deeper into exploring their relational and emotional patterns. Often the "symptoms" we bring to therapy are simply adaptations that have allowed us to survive in past circumstances. Life can be much richer when we can recognize this and tell our story in a new way. I believe healing happens within warm, safe, & supportive relationships and it is my sincere hope to offer that to you.

It is easy, and normal, to get stuck based on ongoing pain caused by trauma and grief .
I entered the mental health field based on my own life-changing experience when I went through therapy to address the impact of childhood traumas.  With the help of my counselors my life transformed from hopeless and stuck to empowered and whole.  I had no idea this kind of transformation was even possible.  Now, it is my turn to give back and walk alongside those who choose the difficult path of recovery.  I won't have your answers since your story and personality are unique.  What I do have is familiarity with the path, faith in your ability to find your answers, and professional experience guiding individuals toward wholeness.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
