I work with relationships-the dance between the Feminine and Masculine. My interactions with couples & families experiencing conflict, relationship challenges and recovering from wounds leaves them feeling a sense of renewal. My focus on the Feminine specifically aims to help women develop confidence to live the life they desire. I have cared for people experiencing a broad range of struggles including marital betrayal, depression, relationship conflict, decision-making, or grief. It is so important for me to hear the individuals I work with, help make sense of their world and give them valuable tools to make the changes they need.

I am passionate about helping women across the lifespan who are struggling with finding a space where they feel comfortable and safe.
The world can feel like a very judgmental and lonely place at times. I am committed to coming alongside my clients to help them develop skills for targeting ineffective behaviors, habits and beliefs. I believe in taking a collaborative approach to helping clients reach their goals. I have a person centered orientation and believe that therapy works best when there is a positive relationship between client and therapist. I love getting to know my clients, using humor in my practice and developing deep, meaningful relationships that promote healing.

I help women resolve past trauma related to emotional deprivation and shame/fear-based messages in one's family of origin that has manifested as problems with substance use/abuse, perfectionism, and control.
Feeling trapped in an inner prison of emotional pain and a hostage to your past? Stuck in self-sabotaging patterns? Burdened by negative beliefs about yourself? Heal trauma and restore emotional well-being. The legacy of trauma is often difficult symptoms showing up as anxiety or depression and experiences of being ‘triggered’ in reaction to interpersonal situations. There is hope and a pathway that leads to healing. Through trauma resolution therapy with me you may restore emotional-well-being, develop an inner freedom, and awaken to a newfound wholeness you never thought possible.

My name is Grace, and I am a white queer woman who works with teens and young adults to support them in learning about themselves and healing from past trauma. I specialize in working with LGBTQIA folks and anyone exploring their identity; as well as people of color, disabled folks, and others who face intersecting forms of oppression. My practice is rooted in social justice and anti-racism, and a belief that systemic oppression directly affects our mental health. In our work together, we’ll explore the ways in which systems of power and societal expectations interfere with our right to authenticity and wholeness.

As a Taiwanese immigrant and cis- woman of color, I understand the importance of examining intersecting identities and mental health, and I strive to take the social justice oriented approach to work with you from systematic perspective.
Are you feeling stuck in life and constantly juggling between personal space and various obligations? Do you tend to be hard on yourself and often “take the blame” in relationships? Do you feel the need to be there for others but often forget about yours? Whether you are beginning on therapy journey or continuing on, the growth towards self-understanding and awareness is the first step of healing. My therapeutic approach is warm, non-judgmental and collaborative. My theoretical orientation adopts an integrative approach that incorporates psychodynamic, interpersonal process and mindfulness.

Are you feeling challenged by motherhood? As a therapist who specializes in maternal mental health, I help you process and cope with the stress, anxiety, and overwhelm that surfaces during the parenting years. Relationship concerns, career transitions, exceptional children, even coping with loneliness are all common counseling topics. With very little time to process complex feelings, these issues can lead to anxiety, ambivalence, anger, even grief. I give women the space to explore their very real feelings, while fostering confidence in, and compassion for, themselves through this intense season of life.

You're a woman who works hard for success. But you feel unsatisfied with where your life is at once you leave the office...your partnership, friendships, a lack of time. You're killing it at work but feel like life isn't clicking into place everywhere else. You might not even remember a time things didn’t feel this way. But one thing is for sure: you’re ready for some relief. You’re ready to feel accomplished at the end of the day AND satisfied with your home life. You’re ready to have time for YOU. Most of all, you’re ready to have more connection in your life.

I am a mom, wife, and female therapist who has reclaimed my life.
I support adult children who are estranged or have low contact with their parents. I help people ease the pain and stop the vicious cycle of guilt and shame. My clients struggle as you do. My clients report a communication breakdown. They tried their best to be seen and heard, but they rarely felt seen or heard. The feeling that they aren’t good enough is pervasive. Even in areas where they earn awards and respect, they worry that they will hear the inner critic if they make any errors. When they first come in, my clients feel unworthy and unlovable. They want to be understood more than anything by their parent, partner, or child.

How can I find a therapist in Portland?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the United States, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
