When I first became a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist 20 years ago, our understanding of how past traumas and attachment wounds affected us in the present, and how to effectively treat trauma and attachment wounds was very minimal. Since that time, extensive research, studies, theories and practices have broadened our knowledge of trauma's impact on the mind and body and expanded the variety of tools and resources available to support therapists. I can honestly say I have never loved my work as a trauma/attachment-focused therapist more than I do right now.

With couples I use this framework to peel back the layers of conflict to better understand each person's ground.
I use a dialogic approach in my work, which means I am listening to your language and the meaning that you make out of life. Together, we help bring unconscious beliefs, patterns, and habitual thought to the forefront to examine. This gives individuals and couples an increased awareness and an opportunity to make great change.

For 15+ years I have helped families heal wounded relationships by trying out different ways of communicating with (and listening to) each other.
I am here to learn how to be helpful to my clients. Some are looking for practical solutions to parts of their lives that feel difficult or stuck; some are trying to understand themselves better in order to make changes and feel better; and some just need to start thinking out loud with a professional helper who will not judge them, and build from there.

This work can help individuals and couples decrease negative patterns and create new patterns that foster growth and joy.
I approach therapy from a practical perspective: part of our work together will be to help you determine what changes you want to make, and get started with some practical actions (yes, homework!). Most of my clients can expect to start seeing improvement within 2-3 sessions, and sometimes even after the first session. My work is collaborative with you, in other words, we are a team toward the goal of finding the wellness within you. I take a strengths-based approach, which means that instead of looking for what's "wrong" we'll look for what's right, and build on that.
