The unknowns and uncertainties can be overwhelming, especially when anxiety, depression, and past wounds weigh on your heart.
My therapeutic approach is client-oriented, relationship-based, strength-based, practicality- and self-compassion-focused, through the lens of social equity, trauma-informed care, and cultural awareness. I utilized a variety of interventions in therapy based on the client's needs and suitability, including solution-focused therapy, narrative therapy, etc.

Whether you're navigating anxiety and depression or the tender pulls of past trauma (including C-PTSD), I meet you where you are—while encouraging you to be an active participant in your growth.
My approach is collaborative. It should feel like a shared exploration. Through our work you’ll develop both awareness (understanding your patterns) and practice (trying new ways of being). I offer practical tools to take beyond our sessions, as well as a relationship where you can feel empowered, not dependent.

Set-backs, emotional pain, social awkwardness, fear of anger, shame or rejection can block that which we desire most-loving nurturing relationships, affirmation from others, and self-valuing.
I have found having a safe place where you can feel, express and work on painful emotions can increase your resiliency over anxiety, depression, and create fuller relationships. What is most important is a safe place to tell your story. The unique relationship that develops between us allows the old stuck places and pains to be transformed.

I have extensive experience in compassionately treating the grief, anxiety, confusion, and despondency that often accompanies these issues.
Each one of us possesses problem-solving strengths. In times of transition and stress, these strengths can seem dormant. Therapy can uncover and further develop personal resiliency. I help people enhance their unique coping strategies, to move toward a life of integrity and strength. I believe therapy is a collaborative effort, with your skills, life experience and hopes an important factor in how our sessions proceed. It takes a lot of courage to start therapy. I am continually awed by the people I see in counseling. It's an honor to be involved in this work.

We are all born with the innate capacity to be connected to our feelings and needs, without judgement or shame. Experiences in life, and sociocultural messages, all inform and influence our understanding of ourselves, our feelings of worthiness, and our connection with these deeper parts of ourselves. Sometimes, in experiences of trauma or prolonged stress, we develop ways of existing and coping that are necessary for our survival, but over time may no longer be needed, and can decrease feelings of connection, with self & others.

Now accepting new clients! You find yourself numb, feeling as though life is passing you by and you're just going through the motions. You have this idea of how your life is supposed to be, but you feel stuck and not in control over your free will. Your mind is your worst enemy, and it's spiraling out of control. You may feel shame, guilt, heaviness, and overwhelm. I hope to create a safe space for you to explore those hardwired thoughts and beliefs. You deserve to experience life in a new light, to reduce suffering, and freedom to find peace in your well-being.

My name is Jordyn Morales, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I have predominantly worked with adults who have experienced complex trauma but have generally worked with a broad range of clients. My main priority is to provide a safe space to appropriately process what is bringing clients to session. My main theoretical approaches consist of person-centered, trauma-informed, solution-focused, cognitive behavioral, and strengths-based. I often ask clients what is bringing them to sessions and then work with the client to establish mutually understood goals moving forward. Adjustments can be made throughout treatment.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
