I specialize in neurodevelopmental disorders, with a particular focus on autism and associated conditions (e.g., sensory processing difficulties, ADHD). I provide behavioral therapy and
parent
training for young children demonstrating challenging behaviors at home or at school. I also provide therapy services for children, adolescents, and young adults experiencing significant difficulties with anxiety, ADHD, and/or depression. A primary speciality of mine is working with parents to better understand their children and their children's unique
parenting
needs. Starting in March 2023 I will open up spots in my practice to work specifically with parents experiencing perinatal mental health disorders such as perinatal anxiety or depression.

Despite what Instagram, TikTok, or an opinionated in-law may have us believe, none of us are born knowing how to
parent
, and many of us are actively working on changing intergenerational patterns in our own families in order to better support the growth and development of our children, in essence, reparenting ourselves. This process is a difficult one, and not meant to be done in isolation. Together we can look at how you were parented, how you want to
parent
, and how to bridge any gaps in between.

When working with an individual or couple, I utilize my years of experience as a therapist, evaluator, and
parent
to help people make important changes.
I specialize in working with individuals that are involved in a high conflict divorce or an individual or couple that are involved in a DHS child welfare case. People going through these highly stressful experiences can benefit from support, direction, and at times direct assistance in order to successfully get through the legal process. The goal of the work is to facilitate the legal aspect of the case, decrease stress, save the client money, and minimize the impact of the pain or damage to children.

Change is a great opportunity for growth. I work with clients who are struggling with unhealthy and unwanted habits of thinking and behaving and difficulties moving through life transitions. I work with tweens, teens and adults who are looking for strategies and skills to increase their abilities to choose response over reaction, and increase self-empowerment. I work with individual adults and teens, and tweens with
parent
coaching on a regular basis. I work with parents of younger children as a
parent
coach.

I have deep professional, academic, and personal experience in trauma, neurodiversity (Autism, ADHD), family/
parenting
issues, and mood struggles including depression, anxiety, and grief.
Taking charge of your healing journey is a heroic step. Much like training for an athletic challenge, it requires dedication, courage, determination, and self-love - as well as a good coach. We will do incredible work together if you are motivated to commit to your own growth process, are curious and open-minded, and are willing to do the sometimes difficult mental, emotional, and spiritual work to change habits and patterns that no longer serve you or those you care about. I'm especially passionate about working with healers, helpers, teachers, parents, caregivers, and people healing from childhood and intergenerational trauma.

I also offer
parent
-based services that offer guidance, education, support, and training.
Raising healthy and happy children with ADHD can be a big job, but the good news is that you do not have to do it alone. There is a lot that can be done to help! ADHD is a complex neurodevelopmental condition that impacts each child differently. ADHD has little to do with how "smart" your child might be, but it has a lot to do with your child's ability to regulate their attention, mood, and behaviors. When symptoms of ADHD lead to lower self-esteem, mental health concerns, behavioral challenges, or academic struggles, it is a good time to seek professional help.

My practice consists of adults and older adolescents dealing with a variety of issues including, but not limited to, relationship concerns, divorce,
parenting
issues, childhood abuse, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and trauma.
Therapy is an opportunity for personal development in a safe, nonjudgmental, respectful, private, and supportive environment. It is natural to feel overwhelmed at times and it is not a sign of weak character to seek help. Through therapy we can learn to manage our emotions more effectively, improve our relationships and communication, bolster our confidence and self-esteem, and minimize our distress. In my work, I strive to create a comfortable environment in which I can assist clients in identifying thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and recurring patterns of behavior that may be impinging on the capacity to experience and create a fuller, more satisfying life.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.
When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.
How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
