My passion is to help people have more fulfilling relationships. When we are in conflict with others, it often feels easier to walk away or shut down. I am EFT couples trained, which is one of the most effective therapies in helping people improve communication and reduce relational distress. I am experienced in working with same sex relationships, addictions, and can help with emotional regulation/anger management. I am also EMDR trained and certified, which is an evidence based therapy for trauma.

I have great respect for each person’s individual process and employ multiple techniques to facilitate that discovery, including CBT and EFT .
It’s true, life can be painful and even very unfair. Your relationships might be struggling, your daily demands may seem overwhelming, your work may feel far more stressful than engaging, and you may be down on yourself. You may have any number of emotions including anxiety, anger, guilt, pessimism, boredom, regret, sadness, shame, and loneliness. Therapy can help you cope with difficult emotions and provide you with tools to improve your relationship with yourself and with others. My goal is to help you accept your whole being so that your best self can foster positive relationships and create a life of joy and purpose.

I work from an emotionally focused therapy lens.
I believe it is an honor to be trusted with a person's deepest emotions. I am here to offer you a space where you feel supported, understood, and challenged to explore those difficult and seemingly hard to reach places within yourself. I will foster a trusting relationship where, together, we can identify the strengths you already have, in order to cultivate change, growth, and healing. I approach therapy through an experiential lens (understanding, accepting, and experiencing emotions that guide our behaviors).

Only accepting group therapy referrals. In my experience, life is better and easier if you have someone that understands you, sees it from your point of view, and helps you navigate through it. A good therapist is like a fellow traveler who journeys with us into awareness, facilitating the insight necessary to heal and grow. I am a passionate facilitator of this process, helping my clients make sense of their lives and relationships, heal what's kept them stuck, explore new ways of being and live richly. The therapy we do is deep and has long-lasting effects, and the changes become your second nature, even after therapy ends.

Not accepting new clients. Don't invalidate your pain. I believe you and your relationships are too important to put off therapy. Maybe it’s that reoccurring fight leaving you stuck, not heard, or feeling hopeless? Or you are ready to address that anxiety or loss of motivation that's been accepted as your new normal. Maybe what previously worked feels dull and you want to see and feel progress again. I draw from evidence-based practices such as Emotionally Focused Therapy, ACT, and others to help you accomplish your desired outcome in therapy.

I integrate different approaches tailored to each individual, couple, or family, utilizing emotion focused therapy ( EFT ), elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).
None of us come out of childhood without some cuts and bruises. Sometimes physical, but more oftentimes emotional. For many, these emotional wounds are still tender, open, lightly dressed with a bandage, forgotten, or even neglected. So when these emotions get touched we find ourselves reacting in ways that aren’t in line with the kind of person we want to be.

I work with individuals (18 years and up) and couples using the lens of complex trauma to help bring awareness into how one’s past may have shaped maladaptive behaviors of their present that could be causing life to be stressful and overwhelming. At the core of my work, I promote improving the relationship with oneself to maintain long-term healing. Patients who are motivated to improve their relationships, assertive communication and boundary setting skills, and develop a deeper understanding of themselves would be a good fit for the treatments I provide. I use CBT, Attachment theory, inner-child work, IFS, and EFT in my work.

I utilize tools and techniques derived from play therapy, Internal Family Systems, Emotionally Focused Therapy, as well as Existential and Experiential practices.
There are times in life when we might feel disconnected from ourselves or our loved ones. There might be a desire to reconnect with whom we once were, or a drive to explore who we might be growing into. The stressors of life can often make it easy to forget that the human experience can be an energizing and playful place. Having difficulty navigating the unknown is a part of the human experience. I aim to co-create a space for feelings of confusion or stuckness to exist, and to explore together where that sense of tension may be centered. In our work together we will deepen your relationship to yourself and your loved ones.

Jason believes that entering into counseling is one of the most courageous actions that any person, couple or family can take. He views therapy as a sacred process that requires honesty, presence, and vulnerability. He provides a warm, caring and relational style of counseling where you are free to be who you truly are, wholly accepted and genuinely cared for. He draws on attachment theory as the foundation of his work. Jason feels that both our wounds and our healing come through relationships. He has a special focus on serving couples, new dads, families, and men as well as clients struggling with anxiety and depression.

I use Brainspotting, EMDR, and EFT to help you achieve real change.
The impact of painful past experiences, relationship problems, and never feeling good enough are interfering with your life. You feel broken and like you have to constantly wear a mask so others don’t see you’re struggling. Disconnection and hurt are your norm in many of your relationships. You’ve read self-help books and been to therapy before, but nothing has actually led to the growth and change you’re looking for in your life and relationships. You have a sense that you can have a life with more confidence, stability, and connected and fulfilling relationships, and are thinking it’s time you get some support.

I am an EMDR specialist and EFT ( emotionally focused therapy) trained couple counselor.
I have had the privilege of witnessing people undergo the slow, extremely subtle and remarkable journey of healing and self-transformation. This process of psychological growth is astoundingly complex, multilayered, circular and even mysteriously numinous in its unfolding. My philosophy as a therapist is primarily on core transformation rather than merely symptom management and needless to say, I strongly believe in the centrality of the therapeutic relationship as a significant healing agent. Moving towards our wholeness necessitates the courage to first move into the wounded parts that we all have as members of the human species.

Emotionally Focused Therapists

Who is emotionally focused therapy for?

Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?

People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?

Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?

EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
