My clinical approach is rooted in CBT, ERP, and ACT and is informed by an anti-oppressive/anti-racist and pro queer/LGBTQ+ approach with a focus on my client’s strengths.
Change is possible. A diagnosis of OCD or another anxiety disorder can be scary and confusing. It can feel like your life is defined by dread, worry, fear, and exhaustion. Much of your energy and time are likely spent trying to present to the outside world as “successful” and “having it all together”. Internally, you may feel disconnected from your core self, your innate purpose and potential, and the ability to enjoy simple moments in your life. Anxiety doesn’t have to define who you are as a human. Therapy is courageous work. I’m glad you’re here making this first step.

, CBT, ACT ) that help clients obtain lasting change.
If eating disorders, like binge eating, excessive dieting, or worrying about food, weight & shape feel like they have taken over your life, I can help you regain a sense of balance, control and peace. There are many unhealthy messages about how our bodies "should" look or what we "should" or "shouldn't" eat. It is my goal to help guide you back to the inner wisdom of your own body, so that eating begins to feel like a nourishing, and even joyful, experience. In addition to therapy for eating disorders, I also work with bariatric surgery patients, and clients who need help with anxiety, depression, stress, or life transitions.

I draw from various approaches such as Acceptance & Commitment Therapy and Non-violent Communication, while doing my best to adapt to your needs.
I'm keeping a short wait list for new clients, but I'm happy to meet with you for a brief consult before you wait to be scheduled. My goal is to provide a space for you to learn about yourself, grow as a person, and develop and work toward goals that feel relevant and doable. We can work on developing healthy coping strategies for current stressors, or increasing understanding around past experiences. I enjoy working with people toward discovering values, practicing healthy boundaries, and developing self-compassion. I will ask for your honest feedback throughout the therapy process so that I can adjust my approach as needed.

My aim is to create an environment where you feel safe to explore your problems without being judged. Once we have established a working relationship built on mutual trust, honesty, and respect, my goals are to help you better understand your problems, identify obstacles that have inhibited your capacity for growth, and support you in the process of making positive and often times difficult life changes. I am rooted in humanistic therapy, which is a client-centered approach emphasizing unconditional acceptance .
Sometimes it’s painful to face things about ourselves or our situations that we would rather ignore. It's worth it to face them because it gives us the opportunity to look at things from a different perspective, to ask different questions, to challenge ourselves, and ultimately to get more of what we want out of life. Understanding where we've been and how we got here is important, but in order to feel better, we often have to do something different. In therapy we can learn to identify what the options are, evaluate the risks and benefits of different options, and make the best choice for ourselves.

I integrate different approaches tailored to each individual, couple, or family, utilizing emotion focused therapy (EFT), elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy ( ACT ).
None of us come out of childhood without some cuts and bruises. Sometimes physical, but more oftentimes emotional. For many, these emotional wounds are still tender, open, lightly dressed with a bandage, forgotten, or even neglected. So when these emotions get touched we find ourselves reacting in ways that aren’t in line with the kind of person we want to be.

Do you feel anxious, depressed, and not like yourself? Would you like some tools to manage life in a more healthy and helpful way? Sometimes we feel stuck and need someone to believe in us. I want to be that person for you! Together we can reach your goals for living the life you know is possible. We will work collaboratively and I will strive to honor who you are, your life story, and the strengths that have gotten you through life this far. Therapy can be hard work, but it can feel a little less scary when you have someone by your side who believes in you.

Not accepting new clients. Don't invalidate your pain. I believe you and your relationships are too important to put off therapy. Maybe it’s that reoccurring fight leaving you stuck, not heard, or feeling hopeless? Or you are ready to address that anxiety or loss of motivation that's been accepted as your new normal. Maybe what previously worked feels dull and you want to see and feel progress again. I draw from evidence-based practices such as Emotionally Focused Therapy, ACT , and others to help you accomplish your desired outcome in therapy.

My approach is rooted in my somatic, neurobiology, and mindfulness training while integrating other approaches like solution-focused work, IFS, ACT , DBT, CBT, and a psychodynamic lens.
Taking New Clients: Everyone has the essential ingredients for positive change. Individuals and couples who seek my support are in a difficult moment or intersection in life; seeking resolution between internal and external pressures; seeking satisfaction and harmony in relationships, identity, career, society, etc. I support clients who seek to deepen and broaden their perspective on who they are and who they want to become by examining self-limiting narratives, refining self-mastery, and cultivating self-compassion. BIPOC and multicultural clients often seek my support as well as those who want more from therapy than just insight.

Therapy is about creating opportunity for different choices. I partner with people so they can find out what’s going on beneath the surface in their lives. When you’re feeling stuck or out of control, and your old ways of coping don't seem to be working, we can create a plan. We can examine why things are the way they are and what it will take to make a different choice. I can’t take away the problem, but I can help you learn a different way of dealing with it. While I primarily use an ACT ( Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) framework, no single therapeutic modality is 'correct' so I work to be flexible and blends multiple styles.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
