Life doesn’t come with a roadmap, especially when you’re having to navigate inevitable changes. Whether that be finding balance in your life or addressing feelings of injustice, I aim to work alongside you, helping clarify and achieve the aspirations that bring you to therapy. Throughout this process, I strive to honor your beliefs, values, unique experiences, and cultural background, recognizing their profound role in shaping who you are. I feel that we are products of those before us, and change can happen when we dig deep into the core of who we are and how we are through understanding the impact of past events.

As a therapist, my goal is to provide a safe, compassionate, open, and honest environment for individuals seeking help and support. My fundamental belief is that every person possesses inner strength that helps them maneuver through their life. Sometimes, it can be difficult to recognize such strength and potential due to trauma, grief, isolation, neurodivergence, disability, and/or myriads of other barriers. However, healing occurs when one can name and tame these barriers, thus, reclaiming one's inner strength and honoring their worth. My hope is that I can help guide you toward unlocking your potential and finding your joy.

Our work together involves tending to the root of imbalance, alchemizing pain into medicine, and re-orienting artistic creation and mothers as the center of life. As an earth-centered practitioner, I believe reality can be imagined, gestated, and birthed anew. We can meet in my office in NE Portland, our local forests, or virtually. May we remember healing is belonging within the village of our hearts, our communities, and our planet.

Welcome. My name is Alexandria (she/her). I help people repair relationships, connect back to the body, and nurture love. We will work to understand how your family of origin and cultural influences shape you, freeing you to choose how you show up in the world. From years of teaching yoga, I have a deep regard for the connection between mind, body, and spirit. I will often ask you to tune in to the body: can you notice what you're feeling and where you're feeling it? This will support our larger work, as we practice awareness that every thought and emotion has a physical, embodied component.

Hi, I’m Natasha (she/her). I’m a white, cisgender, bilingual (English and Russian), bicultural woman from a working-class immigrant background who grew up in three different countries. Having personally navigated the challenges of displacement, immigration, and motherhood, I believe in the power of building meaningful connections on our path toward resilience. These diverse experiences have shaped my belief that therapy is a deeply relational, collaborative process, rooted in mutual respect, cultural humility, and a shared commitment to healing.

I believe that meaningful and healthy relationships with friends, families, and partners leads to high quality of life and personal well-being. I want to go deeper into emotions and vulnerabilities that emerge in therapy, supporting clients to explore these emotions in a safe environment. One of my specialities are youth (14+ years old) who are seeking safety and support in exploring their identities, as well as supporting their families in navigating their children's identities and needs. I am also skilled at working with couples who are struggling with communication, power dynamics, and transitions in their relationships.

I believe that it is important to find a therapist that is a good fit for you. There are many wonderful therapists, but it is important for you to feel that you are understood, supported, and sometimes gently challenged by your therapist. I will ask you to identify what you want help with or what you are feeling distress around and then will actively work with you toward your goals.

Hi there! I bring curiosity, creativity, and a deep respect for the many ways our minds work and our stories unfold into every session. As someone who is biracial and neurodivergent, I understand how complex and layered our identities can be—and how healing it is to have a space where all parts of you are welcome. To me, therapy is a place to reclaim your voice, reconnect with yourself, and make meaning out of your experiences. I’m passionate about walking alongside people as they explore who they are—especially in the context of their relationships, cultures, emotions, and lived experiences.

As a busy professional, parent, or partner, life can feel like a blur at times, making it easy to lose sight of your values and desired life direction. This can be even more challenging for people who did not get the emotional nurturance they needed growing up. When we aren’t used to tending to our own emotions and needs—focusing instead on others and what is expected of us—we are more prone to anxiety, self-doubt, people pleasing, harsh self criticism, and self neglect. Therapy offers a safe, nonjudgmental space to understand yourself better, clarify what you need, and pursue what’s most important in your life.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
