Hi! My name is Trent (he/him). I believe in fostering deep connections with my clients by meeting them where they are at so I can better understand where their lived experience. I focus on creating a space for my clients to feel safe sharing without scrutiny or judgement and where they can be their true authentic selves. My perspective of therapy is one where the client is the captain of the ship and the therapist is the co-captain, always there to be the “tap on the shoulder” when necessary. I believe that people’s ideal lives are more attainable than they’ll ever imagine.

Hi, I’m Leslie (she/her) and I’m so glad you’re here. I believe therapy is a space where you get to exhale — to set down the weight you’ve been carrying and be met with warmth, understanding, and care. At the heart of my work is a deep respect for your lived experience, your capacity to heal in connection and the power of being accepted just as you are. I offer a grounding, nonjudgmental space where meaningful connection and healing can take root. My approach blends person-centered therapy with mindfulness, expressive arts, and somatic awareness — supporting you in connecting with your body, emotions, and inner wisdom.

Our work together involves tending to the root of imbalance within the psyche, somatic and etheric bodies. I work from a quantum systems orientation, which includes Internal Family Systems, Intergenerational Family Therapy, and Nature Therapy. I am currently accepting clients seeking therapy in the forest, park, or virtually. As well as clients interested in Equine Therapy. May we remember healing is belonging within the village of our hearts, our communities, and our planet.

I work with individuals and couples navigating anxiety, self-esteem, and relationship challenges. Many people who reach out for therapy care deeply about doing things well and keeping their relationships strong, but feel overwhelmed or stuck. The therapy process can help you manage worry and depression, notice and understand your emotions, and improve relationship dynamics. You'll have the space to take a breath, get support, and talk about what matters most to you.

At Sakura Counseling, we offer a nurturing space where healing unfolds like the cherry blossom—graceful yet resilient, soft yet strong. For centuries, the sakura tree has stood as a symbol of life’s impermanence and the quiet power of renewal. Its blossoms return each spring, reminding us that even after the harshest winters, growth is not only possible—it is inevitable. Grounded in compassion and guided by a deep respect for the richness of human experience, we offer a nurturing space where your story is honored and your voice is valued.

The world isn't always attuning to you, but therapy can be a place of attunement. Maybe you're navigating non normative relationship structures, exploring spirituality on your own terms, or learning to trust your body's wisdom after years of disconnection. Life can feel lonely when you're honoring parts of yourself the world doesn't always understand, managing the complexities of relationships that don't follow the script, or simply trying to find your way back home to yourself.

Please contact me here: 720-258-6209 - You’ve always felt like it was just easier to do and be what others wanted—now you’re not so sure. Growing up, you learned that having the acceptance and approval of others was the most important thing. This has driven you to succeed in some ways, but also driven you away from your true self. Imagine if you felt comfortable speaking up for what you need and want…actually taking up space. You’re worthy of love and respect—no prerequisites required. This might sound like a pipe dream now, but I want to help you see that you are capable of change & worthy of the things you want out of life.

Having grown up as a queer child in a biracial, bicultural, traditional Mexican American family in rural Illinois, I have experience with the challenges of navigating different needs in families and building strong bonds across differences. So often, the hardest part of relationships is being present with difficult emotions as they come up. The boogeymen of the past and the fears of the future stop us from staying present with our loved ones right now. I am here to support you while you move through the emotions that come up from understanding these experiences more.

You were raised to be grateful, to work hard, and to not complain. You translated for your parents, kept the peace, and made yourself smaller so your family could survive. The guilt, the pressure, never feeling enough in either world, that's real. I work with BIPOC, LGBTQ+, neurodivergent, and multicultural clients, children of immigrants, and refugees, supporting cultural stress, life transitions, and burnout. Therapy with me is collaborative, culturally informed, and focused on helping you feel seen and grounded while building skills to thrive on your own terms.

Welcome. I will work with you to mend relationships, attune to your deepest needs, and nurture a love of self. We will call on parts of you who have been hidden, parts who have been pulled into unfulfilling roles, and parts who you can lean into for the deepest support you have ever known. I favor somatic, emotions-focused, and Internal Family Systems approaches. This unique blend allows your purest senses to lead, rather than the thinking mind, or an “expert” who gives you the answer. You will learn to trust your own knowing.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Lloyd, Portland?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
