Online therapy in OR, WA, ME, NY & FL. I use a down-to-earth approach and provide active, engaged therapy with plenty of feedback. The best help I provide is often through raising thoughtful questions. Clients appreciate the handouts and other suggestions for resources we use. I especially enjoy helping people with relationship improvement and making relationship decisions. I use a systematic approach to these concerns and you can expect results. I'm sorry to say it can be difficult to arrange free phone consultations, but please email me and I will promptly provide details. My books: Love and Asperger's, Parenting Adult Children.

**Currently focusing on web-based video sessions during Covid-19 issues - let's all be safe** We, as humans, create long-lasting patterns of beliefs and actions to help cope with life’s difficulties. However, as time passes, these deeply rooted patterns can cause growing pains. They also, unfortunately, become shadowed and intertwined in our selves. Like a tree’s thick roots, they need to be carefully excavated, nurtured, and soothed before they can be changed. My goal is to help you to see the internal struggle with your patterns and ease the pain around them so you can fill your day with joy and happiness.

Falling in love is addictive. It is your brain on cocaine. Until, it isn't. At first, you couldn't picture months of arguing. Even an affair, broken trust. Perhaps you never imagined hiding away, secretly texting a colleague - s/he listens to you. Perhaps you just want the miscommunication and storming out of the room to end.

I am currently on an extended leave, but intend to have availability in September 2023. We are all searching for ways to lead fulfilling lives, but sometimes we struggle to find the things that will help sustain us or the obstacles of life can begin to feel overwhelming. As a therapist, I help to identify the things that nourish each individual and act as a partner in learning strategies for moving through the difficult times. I strive to maintain empathy, compassion, and openness with each of the clients I work with and value a collaborative relationship that allows you to steer treatment in the direction most useful to you.

Life, relationships, even moments, can be hard. It is often difficult to talk about what is going on inside, to find footing when it seems your life is crumbling. I will hold space for you, all yours, a hard thing to find in real life, and provide an opportunity for you to connect more deeply with yourself, heal and recover. We will work collaboratively to develop a healthier, happier you. This creates a natural domino effect into your life. You will learn skills, insight, see the negative dynamics that effect you consciously and unconsciously. This allows you to change, to integrate all the hurt pieces of you into a healthy whole.

I once saw the term "Survival of the Attached"- indeed, no person is an island, we all live in realtionship to others and our partner/spouse/co-parent can be the one person who is most upsetting to us and the one we can experience the deepest healing with. You deserve a secure, thriving, joyful relationship, one were you know exactly how to care for each other! I welcome folks from all walks of life and social locations. I specialize in transnationals: expats, mixed- citizenship status couples/families, "home" seekers, and those straddling many cultures.

My approach to therapy is relational, collaborative, and in-depth. Together, we will cultivate kindness and curiosity for your experiences, thoughts, and emotions. Self-exploration and honest feedback with an attuned listener can help create the neural pathways needed to find fulfillment within relationships and interrupt unwanted cycles. Many of us struggle with behavioral patterns and attachment styles that stem from old wounds or losses, but no longer meet our needs. As you are ready, we can explore new narratives & develop tools to alleviate anxiety and depression, creating more space for acceptance, ease and joy.

Relationships are the fundamental building blocks of human experience. We are shaped by and devote many resources to them, and they can be sources of inspiration, support, and consistent love. They can also be harmful and even dangerous, especially when an individual's relationship templates have began as dysfunctional in their families of origin. Many of my clients have been or currently are in relationships with narcissistic/disordered partners, family members, or bosses, or were/are members of high-control groups. Healing is possible after these relationships, and there is hope for choosing healthier people to love.

Infidelity Therapists
How does therapy for infidelity work?
A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.
How long does therapy for infidelity take?
Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.
How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?
When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.
How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?
Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
