I have experience working with high-masking people,
women
, non-binary, and trans individuals.
Do you think you might have ADHD, be autistic, or both? Maybe you've had a sense that some things are a lot more difficult for you than for other people. Maybe you've felt like everyone else got the manual on how to be a person, but they forgot to give you one. Or you've just felt like you were different somehow. If this sounds like you and you're wondering if undiagnosed ADHD or autism could be the reason, I can help.

I believe in the strength and resilience of people. Facing the parts of us that are scared, in pain, angry or that we are ashamed of is hard work and it is rewarding work. We have the opportunity to increase self awareness, understand and accept patterns, and learn new skills and ways of engaging in the world. I prioritize building a genuine, empathetic, safe relationship that will provide a foundation for the work we do. As a therapist, I ground my work in Internal Family Systems Theory and Person Centered Theory.

When it is a hard time to be a human, it is exponentially more difficult to be a caregiver. The good news is that you don’t have to do it alone. Reaching out for support can bring more ease and joy to your relationship with your child (or children). You might be interested in making sense of challenging or confusing behaviors; discipline & confident limit setting; understanding & responding to your child’s crying or tantrums; supporting play, independence & learning; clarifying your values & developing a caregiving approach; setting up a supportive environment; working with your own triggers, and/or carving out time for self care.

I am currently on an extended leave, but intend to have availability in September 2023. We are all searching for ways to lead fulfilling lives, but sometimes we struggle to find the things that will help sustain us or the obstacles of life can begin to feel overwhelming. As a therapist, I help to identify the things that nourish each individual and act as a partner in learning strategies for moving through the difficult times. I strive to maintain empathy, compassion, and openness with each of the clients I work with and value a collaborative relationship that allows you to steer treatment in the direction most useful to you.

I work with adults who feel a loss of personal identity, feel paralyzed by fear of expressing themselves authentically and pursuing their desires, or feel a sense of dissatisfaction in their life. I am passionate about helping people discover or re-discover their sense of joy and unique way of being in the world. I believe that humans are inherently expressive and creative beings but as we develop, our external circumstances often teach us that our natural instincts and authentic selves are wrong, which can result in anxiety, self-criticism/judgement, meaninglessness and depression.

Falling in love is addictive. It is your brain on cocaine. Until, it isn't. At first, you couldn't picture months of arguing. Even an affair, broken trust. Perhaps you never imagined hiding away, secretly texting a colleague - s/he listens to you. Perhaps you just want the miscommunication and storming out of the room to end.

I support my clients in weathering life's storms and in discovering the goodness and tenderness that we all possess inside ourselves. I work from a mindfulness-based practice of "being with what is," while teaching clients how to utilize their body as an ally in their healing journey. As a Certified Hakomi Therapist and PACT trained couple therapist I provide counseling for individuals, couples and adult clients and their parents. My approach to counseling is experiential, emotionally focused, somatic, and person-centered. I utilize somatic ways of working with trauma and attachment issues.

The counseling I do is centered around you. It is based on exploring who you are, what's going on for you, and who you want to be. What your values are and what you want from your life. I'm curious to hear about how you're getting your needs met in your life, or what you feel you need. I'm not here to judge you, but to help you tell both of us how you arrived where you are and how to get to where you want to go.

You constantly beat yourself up for each move you make, no matter what you do it’s not enough. You feel lost in the uncertainty of it all- the confusion about who you are, the direction you're going in and how to get out from the trap of your mind. Your relationships suffer as the same patterns play out but you’re stuck in a cycle that leaves you feeling alone. You don’t know who you are anymore, or maybe you realize you never did, but you know that you’re tired of feeling like something's wrong with you. The awareness brings some clarity and now it's deciding what to do with it. You feel ready to make a change.

Life, relationships, even moments, can be hard. It is often difficult to talk about what is going on inside, to find footing when it seems your life is crumbling. I will hold space for you, all yours, a hard thing to find in real life, and provide an opportunity for you to connect more deeply with yourself, heal and recover. We will work collaboratively to develop a healthier, happier you. This creates a natural domino effect into your life. You will learn skills, insight, see the negative dynamics that effect you consciously and unconsciously. This allows you to change, to integrate all the hurt pieces of you into a healthy whole.

I am also kink/BDSM affirming and poly/ethical non-monogamy affirming.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
