I am an art therapy intern. You don't have to be an artist to benefit from art therapy! Creative tasks are for everyone Sometimes doing something with our hands, and getting out of our heads, is exactly what we need. Do you chronically misunderstood? Worn down by layers of systems that weren't built for you? Maybe navigating a form of neurodivergence and feeling at a loss because you've been made to feel "too complicated". With me, you'll find a holistic collaborative experience What would if feel like to feel seen, heard, validated, and empowered. Your path is as unique and diverse as you are –and that should be celebrated.

My clients come to session asking: How do I live ethically in a world that feels unstable? How do I stay connected when I feel disillusioned? What does intimacy mean when the future feels uncertain? Alongside fear and uncertainty lives a longing to feel chosen in their relationships, to inhabit their bodies with more ease, and to experience meaning, closeness, and moments of real presence. I specialize in working with adults and couples exploring sexuality, identity, and relationships, with particular commitment to LGBTQIA+ clients; my practice is also affirming of nonmonogamy, kink, and sex work.

Do you notice an inner pull to keep striving and proving your worth - maybe even to the point of exhaustion, feeling disconnected from your body, and your life? So many people have learned to hide or discard parts of themselves just to make it through a rigid world. If there’s a quiet inner voice whispering that it’s time for something different, that voice is a sign of strength and wisdom. Welcome. There’s no need to navigate this path alone.

I work with teens who are struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship stress, identity questions, and feeling stuck or burned out. Maybe you feel misunderstood, stuck in cycles of self doubt or overthinking, feel pressure to succeed, or like you’re “too much” in one space and “not enough” in another. Maybe you just feel tired of pretending you’re fine. My clients want to feel hopeful about their future, more confident, more like themselves, without feeling judged or misunderstood.

What matters most is that you find someone you can trust with your inner world. Whether you're navigating grief, trauma, relational wounds, or patterns that no longer serve you, you need someone who won't flinch when things get intense. You can expect to feel met quickly—there's an intuitive quality to how I track unspoken dynamics and what lives between the lines of what you're saying. At the same time, you'll experience clear boundaries, consistency, and a grounded presence that holds steady even when your process feels messy or overwhelming.

Moving through change can feel daunting and overwhelming, especially when we go it alone. Our inner critic tells us that we’re not doing it the right way, or maybe that we can’t do it at all. That desire towards perfection pulls us away from our authentically flawed selves, who both get to make mistakes and learn from them–how beautiful!

Do you feel exhausted keeping it all together? Or maybe like your brain has a hamster wheel spinning through responsibilities, forgotten tasks, and “should-dos,” without the energy to do them? Are you scrambling to cover up dropped responsibilities? Does the feeling of shame and overwhelm make you want to quit, but slowing down feels impossible? Together, we can find space to balance the spinning plates and feel like you don’t have to be on high alert for something crashing down. We can repair dropped plates—relationships, school, work, parenting, or other important things—even if it feels like they can’t be repaired today.

You may be highly self-critical, finding yourself stuck in patterns of people-pleasing or perfectionism. Growing up, you may have felt pressured to live up to the expectations of family, friends, and society. Your emotions may have been labeled “too much,” causing you to suppress your sensitivity. How would it feel to know that you don’t have to be perfect or have all the answers? How would it feel to know that in this moment, you are exactly who you are meant to be?

In therapy, my hope is to provide a space where my clients can harness their own creativity, wisdom, and authenticity! Therapy is a process of reclaiming and redefining how you would like to be in relationship with yourself and others. Sexual fulfillment and embodiment is a deeply personal journey, and I feel honored to be able to witness your process! Although sexuality is a topic we often do not discuss freely, inviting others into our experience can be transformative and connective. I approach therapy with a curious, compassionate, and systems based perspective. Primarily, I utilize Narrative Therapy and Emotion Focused Therapy.

Do you hear a voice gnawing at you, daily, that something has to change before you become just another dream deferred? Does it eat you up inside that some people seem to get everything they want while you’re still trying to figure out how to find a little bit of happiness? You’ve read the self-help books, you’ve meditated, shared your dreams with perfect strangers, and now you’re waiting, waiting for the universe to take two steps toward you as you have taken two faithful steps forward. It would be so convenient if you were could see what a fantastic person you are and how much you already have to offer this world.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Grant Park, Portland?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
