I am passionate about working with LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent youth on the journey of self-understanding.
Welcome! I am a child and adolescent therapist, working with youth ages 11-17. Youth are constantly experiencing unfamiliar situations and emotions. It can be confusing to sort through which emotions are common at each stage of growing up, and which emotions may be associated with underlying mental health challenges. Anxiety, depression, and social and behavioral challenges are common. I am here to support youth as they learn how to navigate adolescence, build inner resources for wellbeing, and manage what is within their control- all of which are critical elements of therapy for youth.

Struggling with anxiety, depression, or self-esteem? Life can be hard. On top of that, many of us have internalized messages, and learned relationship skills that make our lives even harder. If you would like change then we should talk.

I work with individuals and couples to help them (re)discover and reconnect with their sense of self in a compassionate manner. Clients come to me for deeper understanding of themselves. Often, the process involved is about looking at all of the puzzle pieces and fitting them together to create more clarity and expansion. In couples work, I offer couples assessments to gain perspective on issues as well as workbooks and tools for conflict resolution and better communication. I am accepting clients for Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) both in person and online. I offer small group and 1:1 KAP sessions.

People who work well with me are those who are wanting to heal past wounds, understand and uncover aspects of self that have been keeping them stuck. I believe that making art is a brave act that we all have access to if we open our hearts and minds to the potential of its power. It takes courage to seek a therapist and takes time to find the right fit. I specialize in treating trauma, moving at a slow pace to support the internal system of the client. I invite people to try out creating art as a window or reflection into the self. Art making offers a deeper way of knowing or processing feelings that are hard to put into words.

I am here to listen! When we work together I will hope to form a secure bond between us, where you feel safe to express your true self, thoughts, and feelings. A session with me is infused with compassion, exploration, and often a bit of humor. I will always be authentic with you, meaning that I will tell you how I really think and feel, without pretenses. My belief is that the condition of authenticity creates an environment where you will feel safe to explore and experiment with new ways of being; such as changing unwanted behaviors, processing, and learning to live a valued life.

I offer a warm, compassionate, and collaborative space to slow down, feel seen, and meet yourself with empathy and care. I work with individuals, couples, and families from a systemic lens. I have a particular interest in Narrative Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and somatic approaches. I believe the stories we carry about ourselves, our relationships, and our experiences deeply influence the ways in which we move through the world. I also believe that these stories can be transformed and rewritten. I emphasize the importance of body wisdom and incorporate somatic awareness into every step of the journey.

Something feels off — and has for a while — and you're worn out from trying to hold it all together. Maybe you're the teenager whose brain won't shut off and who can't figure out why the anger is always right there. Maybe you're the parent lying awake at 2am, wondering where your kid went. Maybe you're the adult who's survived a lot and is finally, grudgingly, starting to think that white-knuckling your way through might not be a permanent strategy. What you all have in common: you're stubborn. You keep going. And somewhere underneath it is a voice telling you it doesn't have to be this way.

LGBTQ+ Therapists
Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?
Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialized training, either during their degree program or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.

Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?
Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalization in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.

How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?
You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?
Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.

Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?
While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialized training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
