I hold a value that each person has a story that impacts who they are and how they interact with others. I understand the feelings of vulnerability in opening up about yourself in therapy. That is why I place priority on building trust with clients first and continuing to approach my practice with gentle transparency. Often when we have been through difficult times we begin to simply survive. This survival can feel never ending and lead to physical, emotional, relational, spiritual and employment problems. I have seen in my work that it is possible to thrive when we have someone to help us navigate and encourage these tough times.

I utilize an insight and awareness oriented style of therapy that is committed to authenticity and humor when possible. More than half of my clients are involved in or exploring ethical non-monogamy or a queer sexual orientation but the most important thing I look for in clients is just a good therapy chemistry between us. I prioritize new clients with Kaiser health insurance due to a new and specific contract I have with them.

Currently NOT accepting new clients. Life transitions, Grief and Loss, relationships and trauma have a direct impact on our quality of life. I believe that sooner or later we all experience crisis and we do not have to overcome them on our own. In my approach to therapy I will not provide you with all the answers, rather I will guide you in your own discovery of how you can become aware of what changes you need to make in your life in order to create the life you want, and overcome obstacles that are standing in your way.

Hi I am Sarah, it is nice to meet you. I try to create a therapeutic space where the individuals I see can slow down, take time for non-judgmental reflection, process emotions and find the things that help them to live with authenticity and intention. I work to support and collaborate with adolescents and adults of all backgrounds to find growth, seek change and begin the healing process. I endeavor to make therapy a creative and safe space where we can explore how each person is able to find what works for them. In the first few sessions I like to get a sense of who you are, what you are seeking and to make goals for our work.

You might look like you’re holding it together—but inside you feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in patterns that won’t shift. Therapy can be a place where those patterns finally start to loosen.
Many of my clients come to therapy carrying trauma, anxiety, grief, or relationship pain. Many also hold complex identities and want a space where they can show up fully as themselves. I work with many queer and BIPOC individuals navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, identity exploration, and relationship stress. I also support couples who feel stuck in painful cycles and want to rebuild connection and understanding.

I am culturally competent in working with first responders, medical professionals, caregivers, medical trauma, critical incident debriefing, auto accidents, house fires and those with life limiting illnesses (eg. cancer).
First responders, medical professionals, those with life limiting illnesses and caregivers can experience multiple traumas. Many can experience isolation, anger, anxiety or relationship issues as things stack up in life. Family relationships can be significantly impacted by responses and reactions to built up trauma. We are built to connect but sometimes the things we see or experience in life can stick with us in ways that change who we are. Many work hard to build walls to protect them but these things can break down over time. If you're experiencing this, I'm here to work with people just like you.

We are all wired to seek connection, understanding, and belonging. We may feel like we are not good enough though. This feeling can become a part of us. It can impact how we see ourselves and the world. Sexism, homophobia, ableism, racism, and capitalism from dominant cultures harms our humanity, strengths, and uniqueness. In therapy, we can work together to dismantle these harmful messages. Here, LGBTQ+ folks, people with chronic illness and pain or disabilities, age 18 to 108 will find safety, community, and a non-judgmental space to explore who you are, and find purpose and joy.

People often seek therapy when life starts to feel heavier than it should. You might be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, burned out, disconnected in relationships, or impacted by past experiences that still show up in the present. Sometimes there’s a clear reason to reach out; other times it’s just a sense that something isn’t working anymore. Therapy can be a space to slow down, make sense of what’s going on, and get support from someone who listens without judgment. You don’t have to have everything figured out to start. WWC is here to support you.

Don't let anxiety have the final say — whether processing the end of a relationship, navigating career, family, or medical challenges, or simply pursuing personal growth. It can seem like hope is impossible. If you feel stuck, it can bring up significant fear and insecurity. You may have noticed friends are well meaning but talking with them doesn't seem to help. This is where therapy is different. I focus on adult wellbeing. With a sense of security in the room, trust follows, and healing becomes more accessible. There is hope and treatment is proved highly effective in this environment.

How does cancer affect mental health?
A cancer diagnosis is a major life event that can significantly influence the mental health of any individual. Being diagnosed with cancer often introduces a sense of uncertainty about the future, which can cause clients to experience symptoms of anxiety, depression, and significant distress. Many cancer patients may also worry about the toll that their diagnosis may have on their family, their physical health, their job, and their financial situation. The compounding of such stressors can also decrease mental health in clients and may lead to additional symptoms that can influence mental health, such as sleeping difficulties or social withdrawal.
What is the best psychological therapy for cancer patients?
The best type of psychological therapy for cancer patients is highly dependent on the needs of the individual. The therapy type that a client benefits from may also depend on what stage of the cancer journey they are in. Recently diagnosed cancer patients, for instance, may benefit from therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which can help clients develop skills to manage the emotional distress that comes with a cancer diagnosis. Alternatively, cancer patients further along in their journey may benefit from therapies like Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) or other forms of mindfulness therapy to help manage symptoms or physical pain associated with treatment. Clients may also consider group therapy, which offers cancer patients an opportunity to receive support from other individuals dealing with a cancer diagnosis.
Are there any risks or drawbacks in going to therapy while dealing with cancer?
Although attending therapy while dealing with a cancer diagnosis can be helpful, one major concern for cancer patients can be the financial cost of seeking therapy. Many therapists are out-of-network, meaning they do not accept insurance, and thus clients are expected to pay the entirety of the session fee. Since many cancer patients may be out of work as a result of their diagnosis or cancer treatment regimen, the costs of therapy sessions can be substantial. Luckily, many cancer centers and local clinics may offer free or substantially reduced-cost counseling services to cancer patients and their families. In addition, cancer patients may be eligible for grants or other forms of funding from local agencies and nonprofits to seek therapy for their cancer diagnosis. Such opportunities can be very helpful for cancer patients, as they allow clients to obtain the benefits of therapy without the financial strain.
How long does cancer therapy typically last?
The length of cancer therapy depends on the needs of each client. In some cases, cancer patients may only require therapeutic support during the period following their initial diagnosis—to help manage the uncertainty and shock of a cancer diagnosis. In other cases, clients may choose to receive therapy throughout their treatment, and even following, their cancer journey. Pursuing therapy for a longer period of time can help clients develop a deeper relationship with their therapist and provide opportunity to process the challenges presented by cancer treatment, such as physical pain, and challenges associated with cancer survivorship, such as ongoing identity concerns, physical limitations, or relationship challenges.
