I counsel individuals to assist them in working through life's challenges, whether it be anxiety, depression, trauma or relational and communication concerns. My modalities of treatment include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Person Centered Therapy. These are evidenced based treatments that teach clients mindfulness, regulate emotions, build distress tolerance and interpersonal skills.

Dr. William L. Thorbecke is a clinical psychologist working in private practice in both Vancouver, Washington and Portland Oregon. Dr. Thorbecke has many years experience treating adults, children, adolescents, couples, and families. Anxiety and depression issues are Dr. Thorbecke's primary focus, interpersonal family and couples issues, recovery from trauma, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder evaluation and treatment, adoption bonding and attachment, conflict resolution, separation, and divorce are all areas of his expertise. However, the negative narrative continues into adulthood. I use therapy approaches and techniques that help clients re-author a different story about themselves, others and events that might have occurred. When this healing process occurs, I am inspired as a witness to my clients' transformation as they take steps from struggle to healing.
