***UPDATE APRIL 2021*** I am no longer seeing individual/couples clients in private practice. I will resume face-to-face outpatient therapy appointments at the Oregon Integrated Health Florence clinic some time later this year, I will update this space once that change occurs. Until then, all appointments with me will be telehealth (video or phone call) only through the OIH telehealth platform.
I most enjoy working with you, someone motivated to improve. I’ll help you cope effectively with depression, anxiety, bipolar, and trauma disorders and I have for 20 years. You’re individual, couple, family, or groups. Adolescents and adults are preferred. I will help you with stress, horrifying traumas, deaths, diagnoses. Struggling with perinatal mood difficulties, eating disorders? I can help. I’ll teach you skills that enable and empower you to feel happy, stable, and independent again. I’m published on Amazon as Erica L Hernandez. My book is apocalyptic: Evasion, which addresses how to cope with grief.
It may take me a week to respond to emails from potential clients. Are you someone whose gender, sexuality, and/or relationship structure is outside of the mainstream? Are you marginalized in another way? Have you experienced trauma? (and yes, discrimination and oppression are traumatizing!) Maybe you're struggling with anxiety, depression, dissociation, low-self worth, difficulty with motivation, challenges in relationships, or other challenges. Maybe you want to explore your identity in a supportive, non-judgmental space. Maybe you want to figure out what you want, and learn how to set boundaries. Let's talk.
There are times when it is difficult to see a way forward, and discovering who we are, where we came from and what has transpired in our lives is vitally important. If you are here, my guess is that you may be grieving a loss, struggling to accept difficult life changes like divorce or separation, or perhaps dealing with anxiety. Whatever the circumstances, it is my desire to see you rediscover happiness and purpose-- I wholeheartedly believe that therapy can help you get there.
You're smart, but you've always wondered why you feel awkward and different. Why is it so hard to talk to people, or navigate office politics, or cope with stress? You've heard about adults diagnosed with ASD later in life, and you wonder if you might be neurodivergent yourself. Dr. Wendy specializes in autism assessment for adults, especially women, trans, and nonbinary folk who have been under-diagnosed and under-served. She also provides ADHD and sensory processing assessment. Need answers? Dr. Wendy is here. With international certification, wherever you are, she can help.

Are you a highly sensitive person struggling with anxiety, stress, and overwhelm? Does it seem like no matter what you do, you can’t tame your strong inner critic and self-doubt? I am a kind, compassionate, and FUN therapist who works with children, teens, and adults wishing to develop a more positive relationship with their emotional selves. Your goal is to find clarity, peace, and balance — but emotions, negative thoughts, and belief patterns keep getting in the way. What if you could develop a new partnership with these emotions, negative thoughts, and beliefs? One that leads to less resistance and more joy.
I am accepting new Clients (Updated August 2022). I understand it is difficult to seek help. Typically the idea of therapy can feel overwhelming, especially if it is the first time. I strive to make the therapeutic process comfortable and accessible. Through the use of a more direct style of therapy and evidence-based approaches, I help Clients take an active approach to making change in their lives. I work to build upon the strengths you already have and help you continue to live a more valued life.
My passion comes from helping people grow internally as well as external. I believe in meeting people where they are and equipping them with the tools they need to connect with insight and peace. I strive to create a space that feels safe where this work can be done. I believe that each one of us has the capacity to heal and experience health and wholeness. I enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds especially those looking to use faith integration in practice. I also enjoy working with individuals who are struggling with depression and anxiety in particular kids and youth. I utilize a strengths-based approach in practice.
We are collectively experiencing a major upheaval in our world, and because of this we are at point where we can make positive social change. The pain of deep wounds caused by generations of suffering and injustice impacts our day to day lives. The systems that we live in are significantly out of date, and in turn they are harmful to our mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health. Healing on an individual level is the first step to healing families and communities. Reaching for support can make an important difference in navigating difficult feelings, memories, and situations.
*Now accepting new clients!* The challenges of infertility, pregnancy, loss and/or the postpartum period can be overwhelming and confusing. We are a group practice of licensed therapists that specialize in pregnancy and postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, birth trauma, pregnancy and infant loss, infertility, loss of self, adjustment to parenthood, and other issues related to the early years of parenting and getting to know yourself in this new stage of life. Additionally, Caterina specializes in working with families who are navigating the challenges of parenting from pregnancy and through age 5.
CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS. If you’re struggling with life stress, major transitions, anxiety, eating/body/exercise issues, depression or other mental health concerns, you deserve the time and space to process. Each meeting that we have your needs come first. I’ve specialized in eating disorders, substance use and comorbid disorders for the past decade and would love to help meet you wherever you fall in your journey toward getting well. I have also served as director at several adult and adolescent eating disorder residential programs which lends to my knowledge of the field at every level of care.
It is important for a person to feel they have control of their life. I focus on empowering you to make up your own mind as to the direction you need to take to move your life forward. I make a commitment to work with you to develop a plan of treatment which includes skills and techniques to help you progress and will be useful your entire life - skills and techniques I use in my own life. According to the NIMH survey 2014 6.6% of Americans suffered from Major Depression & 5.7% suffered with Anxiety - you are not alone
Therapy can be a rich, meaningful and life-changing journey. It is a process of acknowledging and exploring where you are, where you've been, and where you want to go. Though the prospect of making life changes can seem challenging, if not daunting, it can be incredibly rewarding when you learn through experience that you're capable of making these changes. As your therapist, I am committed to working alongside you as you make these changes, cheering you along the way, as you cultivate the life you want to live, choice by choice and step by step.
Parenting....the hardest. job. ever. Societal pressures, extended family who tell you how to conduct yours, custody issues, career changes, moving, learning disabilities, behavioral issues, how to discipline effectively, spiritual decisions, values you hold in opposition with others, decisions you must make and the constant reality that things keep changing (yes I see the paradox), it's no wonder you have no reserves and are looking for support. I've worked with children, adolescents and families for 30 years and love what I do who I work with. You are not alone. Whatever your current battle, find respite and support here.
Welcoming OHP and private pay clients, in-person in Eugene or Online Video throughout Oregon. I work with people who are experiencing distress in their relationships or feel isolated, out of balance, depressed, or anxious. While that may be true for you, chances are you are also a very resilient and creative human being. You have had to strategically adapt to life’s traumas and challenges, perhaps in ways you still coming to understand, and now you want to invite greater freedom, connection, and joy into your life. I can help you re-connect to your innate wisdom and resourcefulness.
Finding grace and serenity and balance in life is no easy task - even with the foundation of a supportive, liberating childhood; miraculously healthy personal boundaries; and true friends, colleagues, mentors, and lovers. Self-sabotage, self-doubt, seemingly mistaken paths: we're all vulnerable. We find ourselves yearning for an elusive guidebook - to rewrite our lifestory or escape from sometimes paralyzing anguish. All the more so if an overlay of fresh or longstanding trauma (heartbreak, grief, abuse, crises of health, home, or employment) overwhelms and destabilizes us or undermines our ability to trust, to forgive our missteps, even to breathe deep.
If you find yourself struggling with stress, depression, anxiety, grief, mood disorders, problems with self esteem, codependency, abuse or a life transition, I welcome you to get in touch and we will work together to find solutions and get you to where you want to be. Dealing with challenges whatever they are, we humans all need support at various times of our lives, and having an unbiased, compassionate person to talk to sometimes makes all the difference. I will provide you a safe space online and will work hard to meet your needs. I offer telehealth services at this time through secure video; see me from the comfort of your home!
