There is a lot going on in the world, and you may be feeling frustrated and overwhelmed. You may be used to focusing on everyone else's needs, and it can be hard to make time for yourself. I provide support for caregivers and helping professionals to help you feel more like yourself again. I will help you notice where you've been feeling stuck so you can find a better sense of balance. Counseling is your opportunity to reconnect with yourself. I am familiar with earth-based spiritual traditions, and can help you explore the role you want spirituality to play in your life whether or not you consider yourself religious.

I'm sensitive to multicultural issues and have extensive training in spirituality and diversity.
I take a relational approach to psychotherapy, and work to create a space for clients to be genuine and transparent as we work together to address their needs. I am a good fit for individuals who are looking to gain deeper self-awareness and insight, increase meaning and fulfillment in their lives, and reduce mental health symptoms that interfere with their well-being. Those dealing with interpersonal difficulties, in addition to other mental health struggles such as anxiety, traumatic stress, and depression, often benefit from my integrative, relational approach to psychotherapy.

The sorrows and stresses of this world can make us feel disconnected from ourselves and how God purposed us to live. Problems loom when we are turned inward and do not know how to navigate the complexities of our heart. I want to be a loving, truth-centered ally on your walk so you do not feel alone and in the dark. I love walking with adult women through deep valleys as they wrestle with life transitions, trauma, relationship issues, and what it practically means to be a follower of Christ. I Am Accepting New Clients Now! My practice also offers Medication Management with a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.

Finding the right therapist can be a difficult process. Someone who you can build a relationship with in an unbiased and non-judgmental way should be a priority. Therapy is ultimately about leading you to the place where you are comfortable being your own healer. It is about giving you back power in your life and teaching you the skills to heal and live your best life possible. This is the experience that I strive to create in my practice.

I believe therapy is a space for you to be heard, because everyone is someone with a unique past and perspective. I am excited to work with you and learn your stories while we go through the healing journey together. I am equipped and passionate about helping you move through the darker parts of your life, past or present. All of us do our best in any circumstance yet sometimes the tools that helped us through the darker times are the same things holding us back now. You can overcome anything, and I would love to help re-equip you with the tools you need to move forward.

Well, here we are most of us recovering from a global pandemic, the monkey pox and now we must worry whether are children will be safe in their schools and whether to return to work or work from home. The decisions we must make for ourselves, and our families can be difficult and sometimes that can be very overwhelming. Life can be stressful; I know firsthand what it’s like to suffer and make sacrifices I wasn’t ready for. I too have issues; I would be lying to you if I told you otherwise. Sometimes it can feel as if we have no one to talk to and nobody who cares. Well, I care, and we can face through life’s issues together.

I am passionate about helping people get "unstuck" in life, relationships, and business. I believe everyone has the potential to create their best self, the healthiest version of themselves, and live the life they desire. Often times, because of challenges, pain, disappointments, and the hard "stuff" in life, people, including myself, get stuck and having a hard time moving forward. Hopelessness, depression, anxiety, sadness, low motivation, frustration, high-stress, and irritability are some of the emotions we may experience during these seasons. It can have a negative impact on our relationships, our work, and overall well-being.

When we have healthy relationships with those that are important to us, life tends to run more smoothly. When this is not the case our lives can feel out of control and we can become anxious, frustrated, angry or depressed. I enjoy working with couples as they work to create and maintain healthy and fulfilling relationships. I also work with individuals as they struggle with many of life's concerns and difficulties. I always consider a clients family of origin experiences to discover possible connections in their way of dealing with difficulties in the present.

Spirituality Therapists

What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?

Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.

What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?

There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviors. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.

Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?

Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.

How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?

Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
