I absolutely LOVE my career choice, and I enjoy working with people of all ages. I have found that I enjoy helping people with almost any issue with which they may be struggling, and I believe in meeting a person where they are. I use a strengths-based approach to assist my clients in resolving issues, and I believe strongly that each individual is the expert in his/her/their own life, and therefore very capable of making any necessary adjustments/changes. Sometimes each of us simply needs someone to help us through the process.

I help those who are searching for a creative solution to life's challenges, and are open to trying something a little different than your standard talk therapy model. I am open to working with people from all walks of life, who are seeking help with existential issues or times of transformation. For those paying out of pocket, I'm willing to tackle concerns that might not fit the average health insurance's requirement of being diagnosed with a "mental health disorder".

I work in collaboration with every individual to achieve maximum success. I believe that each and every one of us has special gifts. Hi, how are you...really? this question is often asked and not answered openly, how do you respond? Does anyone ask you sincerely? Especially since the pandemic (and before) this topic has been a common theme I hear in talking to people, people like you. My goal is to ask meaningful questions, listen and develop useful techniques with you for more effective coping and communication.

For 19 years I’ve been helping people heal from the effects of trauma, manage symptoms of anxiety & depression, examine relationships with alcohol/other substances, understand the origins of shame, & increase insight, hope & self-compassion.
I have tremendous compassion for those who are struggling and I understand how difficult it can be to ask for help. My approach to helping is nonjudgmental, warm, and collaborative with the goal of helping you get (back) in touch with your own inner wisdom. I have a special place in my practice for those who’ve been hurt by sexual trauma, interpersonal trauma or bullying/discrimination, and I’m passionate about working with women at midlife - the dominant narrative calls it a crisis, but I believe it can be a magical time of healing and self-actualization.

I’m here to provide specialized work in learning how to cope with depression, anxiety , trauma healing, breaking shame cycles, and better understanding ourselves--who we are, what we want in life, our values, our strengths, and addressing our areas of growth.
As your therapist, I want to help you learn how to identify and achieve your goals in life!Unfortunately, many of us have been told that we are “a problem," and this can impact our beliefs around what we think we deserve. Oftentimes, these things do not serve our greater good but someone else's and to our detriment.I enjoy working with clients to disband these harmful beliefs, so that we may no longer see ourselves in this way but instead those beliefs and oppressive systems as the problem.By doing this, you can re-write your life story so that you can set yourself up for success in meeting your goals and rebuilding your self-worth!

If you are bothered with anxiety , depression, trauma, life transitions, feeling unworthy, struggling with relationships, or any other challenge in life, let’s talk about it.
My goal is to help make counseling feel comfortable, safe, and at your pace. We will work collaboratively to help you find your strength, feel empowered and confident, and rediscover meaning and purpose in your life. Talking through past or present tough experiences or hurts can be difficult. It’s tempting to try and ignore them or minimize how they are impacting you. Therapy can be a safe space to help you take the time needed to address your feelings in a way that will help you truly heal from the hurt, and discover how to engage with yourself in a healthy way that enables you to move forward.

Life can be so hard sometimes. Especially when you're also wading through a pandemic. Stressors that you maybe could've coped with in the past now feel overwhelming. Symptoms that you had kept at bay for years, are now making it hard to function. Sleepless nights, panic attacks, avoiding leaving the house, arguments with your partner, snapping at your kids...maybe even thinking that you wish it would all just stop because you're so tired. It doesn't have to be this way. Now, more than ever, is the time to reach out for support.

I work with a variety of concerns; trauma, depression, anxiety , grief, abandonment, and others. I use an integrative approach leaning heavily on attachment theory. I have also spent significant time working with children and adolescents with complex trauma and/or abandonment. I believe that people have an inherent resiliency, even if it seems lost for a time and people can often find it within themselves to heal and grow with help when needed. My time with clients is spent looking for the ways in which that healing and growth can be realized.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
