Whether it be healing from trauma, eating disorders, anxiety or whatever may be taking you away from your most true and authentic life.
While I have a passion and focus for trauma and eating disorders, I love to work with folks from all walks of life. I feel privileged to sit with people working through existential issues, life transitions, spirituality, and personal growth. Therapy can be a place to explore what has shaped who we are and intentionally move towards who we want to be.

I believe counseling is a collaborative process, and starts in the first session as we work together to understand your concerns. I am committed to providing a non-judgmental, supportive, and safe space to help you uncover the things that are getting in the way of your happiness and well-being. My style is a balance of warm, empathic listening and respectful challenging to promote your insight and personal growth. Mindful, gentle, supportive, intuitive. You may be struggling with anxiety, depression, and frustration or find yourself turning to unhealthy behaviors for relief and escape from uncomfortable feelings. You may also be struggling to be free of the devestating effects of past trauma. Or you may have a knowing that there is a freer, stronger, and more joyful you that has just seemed to remain out of reach, despite your good efforts. Through mindfulness attention and somatic awareness, that which was previously "in the way" becomes our doorway to healing, clarity, peace, joy, and the ability to realize our personal and life goals.

I specialize working with those who are experiencing depression, anxiety, life transitions, men’s issues, athletes (both mental health and performance concerns), and disordered eating.
I am a black psychologist providing individual therapy and consultation services. I understand it is difficult to seek help. Often, the idea of therapy can feel overwhelming, especially if it is the first time. I strive to make the therapeutic process comfortable and and transparent. I mainly use Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) and other evidence-based approaches to help clients take an active approach to making change in their lives. I work to build upon the strengths you already have and help you continue to live a more valued life.

I am a licensed psychologist and I specialize in helping people with ongoing symptoms of: complex post traumatic stress disorder, disordered eating, perfectionism, codependency, and anxiety disorders.
My unique approach to psychotherapy begins with you. I listen deeply to the narrative of your past, as well as the story you would like to live into. Your authentic life is one that can be cultivated through an active and creative healing process that centers self-discovery. We can work together to help you find a new relationship with embodiment by learning about your nervous system and what is stored there. Then, we gently move toward repatterning and awakening – aligning thoughts, feelings, and behavior with your true values. I integrate trauma theory, ART, depth psychology, attachment, existential, and anti-oppression lenses.

Many of my clients are trying to make sense of who they are, where they come from, and how to feel more at home in their own skin—emotionally and physically. You might be feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of how to move forward. Maybe you’re tired of carrying around self-doubt, stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, or constantly trying to meet expectations that feel impossible. I view counseling as hopeful work, and coming to therapy as a brave choice. My hope is that through our work together you will feel empowered to be the person you want to be in the world.

I specialize in eating disorders, body image, trauma, and late-discovery neurodivergence, using HAES-aligned, trauma-informed, and liberatory frameworks.
You've spent years feeling like you don't quite fit—in your body, in healthcare spaces, or in the world more broadly. Maybe you're navigating a complicated relationship with food, a late Autism or ADHD diagnosis, or trauma that shows up in ways you can't always name. You might be queer, fat, neurodivergent, or some combination, and you've had experiences with providers who judged and pathologized the very parts of you that needed the most care. You're not looking to be fixed. You're looking for a space where you don't have to shrink yourself to be understood, and where healing doesn't require changing who you are.

I then helped open Monte Nido's Clementine, a residential eating disorder treatment facility as an individual and group therapist.
I would love to support you in building self-awareness, cultivating self-compassion, and connecting with your own inherent wisdom. Together, we’ll uncover what’s blocking you and causing feelings of being stuck or disconnected. In a world shaped by diet culture, fatphobia, social media, societal expectations, and more, it’s easy to feel like parts of ourselves fragment, and we can lose touch with our bodies and sense of self. I specialize in helping people reconnect with their thoughts, bodies, and inner wisdom. You’ll learn to shift harmful patterns of thinking and self-talk, approaching yourself with kindness and curiosity.

I specialize in working with trauma, anxiety, and disordered eating.
My clients seek me out for many different reasons, including (but not limited to) mood, anxiety, and stress disorders; adjustment difficulties; and relationship and family-of-origin concerns. Sometimes, they just know they're stuck or lost and need help. I use evidence-based approaches (i.e., what we know to be effective with certain concerns) to help clients gain awareness of the interactions between their thoughts, feelings, and behavior; recognize the influences that have shaped these patterns; and develop the knowledge and skills to respond, rather than react, to them.

I specialize in disordered eating, body image, and the impact of weight stigma, with a focus on life transitions, such as pregnancy, postpartum and perimenopause/menopause.
You may find yourself caught in tiring patterns with food or feeling uneasy in your body, carrying layers of shame, self-doubt, or expectations that no longer fit. Perhaps you’re navigating a significant life transition—such as perimenopause, pregnancy, or the postpartum period—and noticing shifts in your body, mood, or sense of who you are. Therapy can be a space to slow down and make sense of these experiences. Over time, it may become possible to relate to your body with greater compassion, rebuild trust in yourself, and move through daily life with more steadiness, ease, and self-acceptance.

With over 15 years of treating CPTSD and Eating Disorders, I love working with individuals who believe in deconstructing systems of oppression that remove our body autonomy and disconnect us from our sense of self.
Finding an opportunity to heal takes courage and is often a decision made in isolation. I believe everyone deserves access to healing spaces so that we can live a more connected, authentic and resilient life. The wounds we carry often keep us from feeling a sense of meaning, purpose and community. Finding a safe space to heal in the world we live in can feel impossible. My work focuses on creating this space together. It's my goal to help you better understand the systems that stand in the way of your healing and that prevent you from accessing the support you really need.

What happens in therapy for eating disorders?
In therapy for eating disorders, patients typically describe their eating and exercise behaviors, their patterns of eating in relation to stress, their beliefs about their body, the ways their eating behavior affects their relationships, and their desire (or lack of it) to change. Such information helps the therapist understand the origins of the disorder and the role it plays in the patient’s life, important for guiding treatment. Attitudes and feelings about food and eating, body weight, and physical appearance are common topics of discussion throughout treatment.

What therapy types help with eating disorders?
Once any acute medical or psychiatric emergency is resolved, psychoactive medication is often prescribed, requiring the supervision of a psychiatrist. In addition, patients receive some form of nutritional counseling along with one or more forms of psychotherapy. For adolescents, family-based treatment is empirically validated and considered the first line of treatment; parents and their children meet weekly with a clinician as the adults are coached on how to nourish and psychologically support the young patient. Adults typically receive some form of individual psychotherapy, intended to resolve the cognitive and behavioral disturbances that underlie the disorder and to relieve the mood disturbances that accompany it. In addition, patients may also be helped by group therapy.

What is the goal of therapy for eating disorders?
The most immediate goal of treatment for eating disorders is to save the life of people who are on a path of starving themselves to death or engaging in eating patterns that are doing irreparable physical harm to their body. Once the acute medical danger is past, therapy is required to understand the nature of the disordered eating and/or exercise patterns, establish healthy eating behavior, and to tackle the many erroneous beliefs and distorted self-perceptions that underlie eating disorders and continue to pose a threat to health and life. Therapy also addresses the impaired mood that not only accompanies eating disorders but intensifies the danger to health and life.

What are the limitations of therapy for eating disorders?
Therapy can be very helpful for eating disorders—but that can happen only after people recognize they have a condition that must be treated. Especially with anorexia, the distortions in self-image that accompany the disorder can keep people from acknowledging they have a problem. Individuals may in fact see their eating disorder as a badge of self-control. Those with binge-eating disorder may feel too ashamed to seek help. Therapy cannot help those who do not avail themselves of it.

How long does therapy last for eating disorders?
Because of their complexity, recovery from eating disorders is usually a long-term process—measured in months and years— often marked by setbacks and relapse. Some form of help, such as individual or group therapy, may be advisable for much of that time. It is a general rule of thumb that the longer the illness has endured and the dysregulated eating behavior has taken root, the longer treatment is likely to be needed.
