As a therapist, I act as guide and support to my clients in their pursuits of integration, growth, and transformation. I work with compassion, intention, and integrity. I enjoy working with individuals who are seeking to improve their relationships, gain support and encouragement in their parenting, discover personal empowerment, cultivate positive and healthy habits, and cope with anxiety , depression, and grief. I take a holistic approach, incorporating mind, body, and spirit into my work. If you are feeling overwhelmed, burnt-out, or discouraged, it can make a world of difference to have a space to share your struggles and to feel heard and understood.

Major Depression, Anxiety , and Trauma: I have worked with individuals who suffer from these Dx, as as well as learning and physical disabilities-ADHD, and/or other academic/learning barriers that get in the way of reaching one's goals.
We all become (at some point) shackled to a stuck version of ourselves. Being vulnerable enough to choose something other than our perfectly practiced persona can seem ~impossible. Is your ~asker too broken to learn another way? It takes courage to recreate, redefine, and let go of what doesn't work! "I Don't Know," become very important words when we choose to sail the rough seas...and yet, the risk can be so beautiful. It becomes excruciatingly clear that the pain of staying where we are, must become more acute than leaping into something wonderfully new!

Anxiety and Depression can be side-effects of a substance abuse issue. Seeking help and admitting we have an addiction takes an act of extreme bravery and courage. Our society tells us if we are overcome by addiction, that we are weak willed and have character defects. However, I don't believe that. I believe every person is born with unique gifts that are innate to them, but are veiled when we are chasing our addiction. Together, through meditation, guided imagery and self-discovery we will quickly chart a course of recovery from whatever has got you hooked (food, drugs, alcohol, smoking, technology, etc)

Practice and wait-list are FULL - unable to accept new clients at this time. I work with women & children who are experiencing symptoms from the impact of trauma, loss and/or attachment-related issues. I utilize attachment focused, IFS informed EMDR. I have found that the majority of dysregulation and related symptoms ( anxiety , depression, mood instability) can be effectively treated with EMDR & other effective trauma treatment modalities.

I specialize in treating trauma, grief, anxiety and chronic health issues.
All people are one of a kind, but here's where we're all alike: All of us come from a personal history and context: A past that got us through to where we are now. And "Right Now" is where all the choices and opportunities are. Some things we may want to change, other things we may choose to accept as they are. Therapy can be helpful in understanding yourself well enough to know which is which. And therapy can offer some things you may need to go forward with your choices: Hope, perspective and someone who believes in you while you practice believing in yourself.

to understand your difficult patterns & challenges (such as anger, depression, anxiety , trauma, difficulty connecting w/ others, trouble being present etc.
I'm not able to accept new clients right now. Are you struggling and looking to better understand yourself and/or your relationships? Do your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, or patterns ever feel confusing, overwhelming, or seem to drift from your aspirations? Whether by working w/ you as an individual or as a couple, we can collaborate to understand what's most valuable to you, and the ways in which you struggle. We can then discover the most useful tools for you on your healing path as you metabolize that which seems to be stuck, and grow in your own unique way.

Sorry I am not able to accept new clients at this time. I have been a clinician for over 40 years and offer energy psychotherapy and counseling to adults & teens for anxiety , bipolar disorder, chronic pain, depression, medical problems, phobias, smoking cessation, stress, substance abuse, trauma resolution, allergies, and other issues. Energy psychology is a gentle approach to resolving problems. It often offers a quicker and deeper resolution than talk therapy alone can provide.

The best way to reach me is via email, as opposed to phone. Thanks! - - - - - - - - - - - - - I find the greatest success working with clients who over-think and ruminate, feeding negative valuations of themselves and the world around them, and who struggle with accompanying forms of worry, anxiety , and perfectionism. In providing a safe, non-judgmental space in which to build rapport, and by utilizing a conversational style, clients often feel more comfortable opening up and addressing the issues bringing them to counseling.

I am NOT currently taking clients right now. Most people are interested in improving their lives in some significant manner when they engage in therapy. Based on your needs and preferences, I offer short-term/solution-focused therapy, as well as longer-term "depth therapy." I focus on clinical assessment and move toward providing strategies and skills for symptom reduction for anxiety or other mood issues, assist you in building on current strengths, and help you find new ways of coping with the changes and challenges life throws at us.

My practice focuses on working with adults and couples with the following concerns: relationship issues, communication, Bi-polar, depression, PTSD, anxiety , bereavement, and trauma.
Often times, navigating relationships can be similar to walking through a minefield. The only problem is that most of us tend to step on a few mines. The deep hurt and emotional trauma that each exploding mine causes in our lives is carried into all subsequent relationships we dare to enter. In dealing with the pain of past relationships, many struggle to cope and find solutions to push back against their very real pain; many of these solution cause deep wounds of their own.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
