Hello there! I am a woman of color and an intern counselor with a couple of clinics in the Bend La Pine area of Central Oregon. My passion is really working with children aged 0-5 and their families. I believe that this period is one of the most critical of our lives. I also work with your family as it is growing- before, during and after pregnancy. By pregnancy I mean the time before a child comes. It includes IVF, adoption, and blending families.

Some choose to just get back to their baseline function in the face of stress while others want to finally face buried
trauma
.
Please visit my website for my introduction. I tend to connect with clients who have experienced many challenges and traumas for individual therapy. I also enjoy working with individuals who are facing life transitions and looking for short-term aid. When it comes to couples, I love working with any kind. From highly distressed married couples who are decades in to couples just learning to navigate the speedbumps in a relationship, Emotionally Focused Therapy helps everyone understand their cycle from an attachment-based perspective and gives us the tools and empathy to carve out a new path.

I really enjoy working with people who want more out of life; whether it's to reduce the impact of depression, anxiety, or pain; to move on from past experiences; or just change directions. I love being part of that journey and helping people get closer to a "life worth living." We all have a truth and a sense of when we are living in tune with the person we feel we were meant to become.
Trauma
, addictions, and other mood conditions force us to feel separate from that truth, and I am looking to work with people who want to reconnect with it.

trauma

Making the choice to seek help is incredibly brave, and finding a counselor can be overwhelming. I aim to make the process as safe and effortless as possible, providing individual, family, and couples counseling. We all have a right to belong, be respected, and feel heard and understood. If you experience anxiety, depression, shame, grief and loss, have had traumatic experiences, or relationship difficulties, counseling may help.Together we can find heaingl, promote connection with others, reduce distress, implement healthy boundaries, and process our hurt to create a better relationship with ourselves, our stories, and others.

I am trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) which helps clients stabilize emotions and improve relationships; along with EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) that supports clients in targeting past losses, emotional wounds and/or personal
trauma
.
Do you ever feel like something is missing or just not right? Do you experience stress, worry or difficult emotions around relationships, work, family or school? I believe all people have strength, wisdom, courage and compassion within, sometimes we need help finding the good stuff to support our healing. My primary aim is to validate the courage required to ask for help and work with clients to co-create a safe space to seek deeper understanding of self, find ways to activate (or reactivate) personal strengths, and experience more calm and confidence on the personal healing journey.

You are bright, sensitive, and insightful but either feel like you’re stuck on ON (easily startled, racing thoughts that are difficult to control or turn off, struggling to relax and feeling flooded emotionally), or stuck on OFF (flat, lethargic, exhausted, foggy, unmotivated and disconnected from your vitality and energy). You may have even spent years in talk therapy, gained a lot of insight but have hit a plateau and may be wondering if you’re not meant to fully heal or if therapy actually works. It is possible to deeply heal - you just need an approach that supports your life's history and how it's stored in your body.

When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
