I offer a
somatic
approach that can take many forms; such as yoga, creative movement, guided meditation and expressive arts.
Thank you for being here! You have taken the first steps toward a different way of living. Your action to move toward healing is already a sign that you are and yet we all need support from time to time. Chronic stress and/or traumatic experiences often debilitate our intuitive nature and create a disconnection from our embodied, true self. My hope is that we can collaboratively create within you an internal environment of security, possibility and ease.

My hope is that you will leave therapy with a greater acceptance of yourself, increased confidence in your ability to navigate future challenges and a clearer path on how to engage in your life in a more meaningful and connected way.

Hi! I'm Jesse and I'm going to attempt to help you clarify whether I'm worth contacting in the next few statements. We might be a fit if: You are slightly skeptical of the therapeutic process (you're not alone). You're sensing this is a potential big moment in your life (even if you don't know why). You're someone who does well with a balanced blend of nurturing and challenge. You think growth is possible and awesome and, yes, uncomfortable, but well worth it. Whether you're good at asking for help or not, you know you need it at this moment to get where you're headed. Your dreams are a little scary to say out loud (a good sign!).

My therapy approach begins with you and where you are feeling stuck, at this moment. Oftentimes, you can feel tethered to the past, unsure about the future and not fully present in the now. I work with adults (18+) who are struggling with their shifting identities within their personal beliefs, their relationships and our adapting environment. I want to support you in building your understanding of your sense of self, explore your personal/professional boundaries and how that has impacted your relationships, learn your personal power of communication and work to have you be seen, heard and feeling safe in all areas of your life.

I’m trained in Internal Family Systems, EMDR, Brainspotting, attachment theory, and
somatic
therapy.
Your inner critic can make you view yourself through a cruel funhouse mirror, where all you can see are the parts of you that you don’t like. You may have had past experiences - in relationships, your family, school, or our culture - that left you feeling like there's something wrong with you. Maybe you’ve been told you’re “too sensitive” or “too much,” and now you tell yourself those things, and more, on repeat. You may struggle with trusting your feelings, intuition, or memory, and you want more confidence & self-trust.

I utilize a variety of techniques to help clients in their journey including interpersonal process therapy, attachment therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and
somatic
techniques.
It can be easy to ignore what causes us a deep sense of pain, but often times that pain begins to demand our attention through a number of ways such as strained relationships, difficulty at work, feelings of anxiety, depression, and physical pain. It takes courage to slow down and acknowledge what is causing these feelings in our lives. Counseling is an opportunity to slow down, and I am honored to hold space for what feels painful in your life.

Experiencing, HeartMath, Neurofeedback, and Trauma Sensitive Yoga to help individuals find relief at neurophysiological level.
I work with women and adolescent girls who are feeling taken over by the stress and overwhelm in their life. Are you having difficulty processing anxiety? Do you ever feel like stranger in your own body? Perhaps you've tried traditional talk therapy and haven't found the relief that you need. This is the case for many of my clients. Through a trauma neuroscience approach to healing, we will go beyond traditional talk therapy to discover and heal the root sources of your symptoms. You will learn the tools for emotional regulation and resilience, which will help you reclaim control over your mind, body, and emotions once again.

Some of my favorite tools for healing include mindfulness,
somatic
awareness, Brainspotting, Trauma Centered Trauma Sensitive Yoga, Emotion-focused therapy, parts work, and Heartmath regulation techniques.
As far back as I can remember, I have been interested in relationship building, healing, and the exquisite complexity of the human mind. I’ve endeavored to understand the roots of suffering and I’ve searched extensively–reading countless books, inquiring with experienced teachers, and attending a variety of trainings–for the tools to help people find their way out of life’s darkness, and into peace and aliveness.

In addition to talk therapy, I incorporate modalities such as journaling, art therapy, dance and movement, guided visualization and
somatic
therapies.
We are here to thrive, not just survive. As a licensed therapist, Shamanic practitioner and former bodyworker, I am here to help the soul searchers, truth seekers, and those on a quest to rediscover their authentic selves towards overall health and healing. I will support you on your journey to shed the layers of fear, shame, trauma and pain. I will help you on your spiritual or self healing journey, providing additional support as you encounter life's challenges. When the walls come down, and the truth of the authentic self begins to emerge, it may be difficult, but we will move through it together. We will identify triggers and blockages, and look into things such as unhealthy attachments, cognitive distortions (negative thoughts) and “less than healthy” belief systems. It doesn’t matter whether they came from trauma in childhood, abuse, unhealthy relationships, grief or loss, I am here to help. By identifying, processing, and releasing that which no longer serves you will allow the true healing to finally begin and set your feet on the path you were meant to walk.

I integrate creative approaches such as psycho-spiritual therapy with plant allies +
somatic
based interventions tailored to each client's strengths and their steps towards wellness.
Coming into a civilization that values separation and individualistic ways I became enlightened by the deep rooted connection and harmony the mind, body, and soul were craving. The suppression of our innate human parts has created exhaustion and burnout that instills conditioning of shame, guilt and fear. My mission is to provide a meaningful safe space to shed these burdens brought on by unrealistic standards of society, family, and our institutions and connect with the healing allies of the earth to remember how to be in alignment with our full embodied selves.

I offer 8 week long Movement as Therapy Groups....a different approach to therapy. I have two scheduled to start in April, and there's still space. They are small groups exploring embodied emotions, relational patterns and security, regulation, and connecting with the wisdom of your own body. My work is informed by 20 years as a psychotherapist (18 years in private practice in Bend) and my extensive training with
somatic
and mindfulness principles. This process is an experiential and fully embodied way of working with emotions, patterns, heart and soul in a supportive community....giving and receiving support.

Somatic Therapists
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
