Working through life stressors, both current and past, can feel overwhelming. It is not easy and it takes strength to take the first steps towards getting support and reaching out. My approach to therapy is as a team, coming together as equals to find a plan and strategies that fit for you. As a team, we will be taking this road together. I hope to instill the feeling that you are not alone through this journey. It is my goal to help you build the tools you need to reach your therapy goals and navigate stressful experiences when they occur. My main experience is working with clients with trauma, depression, anxiety , OCD, and grief.

My work with individuals focusing on anxiety /stress starts with identifying what maintains the anxiety and developing approaches that reduce or eliminate it.
I work very collaboratively with my clients to find a balance between starting where you are and providing the support you need to move towards the goals you have in mind. I work with a variety of issues including learning to cope with depression, life transitions, improving relationships, and learning to cope with significant losses. I also specialize in treating anxiety /stress and substance abuse/dependence. In my experience, a match between a therapist and client is an important part of moving toward your goals. I find it helpful to talk briefly by phone about the concerns you want to address.

I will help with parenting issues, personal growth, healing relationships, feelings of depression, anxiety , or working through relationship strain.
Are you struggling? The things we wrestle below the surface are difficult to put into words. Feeling sad? disconnected? angry? You may have felt this way your whole life, or this could be a recent change. Please know you are not alone. Relationships are hard; life is complicated, and it's normal to go through periods of darkness & joy. It's also normal to feel like you're somewhere in between. This varying experience is universally lived yet collectively denied. Talking about it is too much, thinking about it too painful, so we occupy ourselves and find ways to cope. -There's an elephant here, let us deal with this elephant now.

I enjoy working with people as they navigate issues that surround: trauma, depression, anxiety , family systems/attachment, as well as navigating sex and relationships.
Our problems are not who we are. All too often we can feel alone, and isolated in our thoughts and feelings, attempting to navigate our lives feeling as if we are the only one's struggling and these feelings oftentimes lead to shame and guilt. When we feel this way it can be difficult to express our wants, needs, and desires to those around us or to even understand what those are for ourselves. When we can't communicate who we are we can feel trapped inside ourselves, feeling shutdown, depressed, anxious, and overwhelmed.

As a second generation Taiwanese-American woman, I am passionate about helping people hold space for intersectional identities, navigate spiritual deconstruction, heal from trauma, work on relationship issues, process grief, and manage anxiety and depression.
Note: Not currently accepting new clients. You might be someone who is exhausted from looking for a therapist who looks even a little like you. Maybe you are feeling grief, heaviness, sadness, and even anger about....everything. Perhaps you have saved every mental health Instagram slide deck and TikTok, but you still don’t feel like it’s clicking for you. You may be someone at a crossroads with the story and template you have been told you need to fit into. You may suspect that there is more-more to expect, hope for, and be.

I work to help people find greater meaning, clarity and purpose - especially at important crossroads of change. Our view of self can be altered through past trauma, divorce, relocation, loss, illness, and new opportunities for growth can be embraced. Symptoms of anxiety , depression, and past trauma can lower motivation and activate old ways that no longer serve you today.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
