I typically work with individuals, couples, and families who are journeying through difficult and uncertain times; believing themselves to be lost or without a clear direction. I have a rich background in treating complex and intersecting conditions - often taking the form of anxiety, depression, esteem and relational difficulties, trauma, loss, and enduring mental health conditions. I am experienced in addressing my client's needs, across a full spectrum, to support their growth, stability, and empowerment.

We can sometimes find ourselves journeying through difficult and uncertain times; believing ourselves to be lost and without a clear direction - therapy offers an opportunity to gain tools for that journey with someone who will believe in your potential for change, and help you to witness your narrative through a more objective and empowered lens. A therapist is a mirror, enabling you to see the totality of your being, and all that has contributed to your existence - together we find ways to rearrange, change and rejoin your life.

I approach therapy from a practical perspective: part of our work together will be to help you determine what changes you want to make, and get started with some practical actions (yes, homework!). Most of my clients can expect to start seeing improvement within 2-3 sessions, and sometimes even after the first session. My work is collaborative with you, in other words, we are a team toward the goal of finding the wellness within you. I take a strengths-based approach, which means that instead of looking for what's "wrong" we'll look for what's right, and build on that.

Healing your trauma and experiencing lasting change is possible, but talk therapy often feels like mental gymnastics or just venting. Mindful Therapy & Breathwork, in contrast, focuses on the body and its sensations as the core of therapy. Instead of changing through thought alone, somatic therapy works from the bottom up, connecting with your body’s intuition to address emotional, sexual, or relational issues. The answers are found in your feelings & bodily awareness. I’m Asher Lyman, a licensed, Jungian therapist with 20 yrs experience, helping you to achieve authentic change with openness to your inner body as the path.

Hello! I’m Niasha, and I’m so glad you’re here. I am licensed in Mississippi, Texas, and Oregon. If you’ve been feeling anxious, weighed down by depression, or struggling to adjust after major life changes—like transitioning from the military or starting dialysis—you’re not alone. It can feel like life keeps moving while you’re standing still, unsure of how to move forward or find peace again. The truth is, when we carry that weight alone, it often grows heavier. The stress builds, relationships feel strained, and hope can start to fade. But healing is possible—you just need the right support and tools to get there.

My practice is culturally specific and Gender specific to the BIPOC Adult Male community and or Allies and 100% Telehealth.
It has been a very stressful and challenging last year or so with the pandemic, police brutality, and the new focus on what the future will look like going forward for the BIPOC community. There is a lot to work through and new stressors to account for at work, at home, and in the community at large. I can help process all this and reduce the anxiety.

Anxiety, depression, and career or life stress can create overwhelming feelings of self-doubt, exhaustion, and frustration. When negative thought loops take hold, they can affect your mood, decisions, and overall well-being, making it difficult to see a way forward. You may feel stuck in patterns of overthinking, burnout, or emotional distress, unsure of how to break free. But with the right support, it’s possible to shift these patterns and regain a sense of clarity and control.

Life isn’t always easy, and most of us don’t seek counseling when everything feels perfect. Sometimes we simply need someone to walk with us through the hard places with someone to help carry the weight, and remind us that we’re not alone (Galatians 6:2). As a Christian counselor, I believe that lasting healing comes when we invite the Lord into our struggles. Drawing from a Christian and biblical worldview and using proven methods such as EMDR, I will come alongside you to help you process pain, strengthen your relationships, and move forward with renewed purpose.

Adults Therapists

Why should adults see a therapist?

Adults may benefit from therapy for a wide range of reasons—whether it’s managing symptoms of a diagnosed mental health condition like anxiety or depression, navigating life transitions, coping with grief or trauma, or simply seeking support during a challenging life period. Many adults find that therapy helps them build healthier coping skills and better process their emotions, which may lead to better relationships and reduced stress. It’s important to note that, unlike psychiatrists or primary care physicians, therapists do not prescribe psychiatric medication. However, they will often work alongside prescribing clinicians to ensure coordinated care and can provide behavioral therapy as an important addition to psychiatric medication.

Mental health concerns can look different in adulthood than in childhood or adolescence, so finding a therapist with expertise working with adult clients is important. Conditions like major depressive disorder (MDD), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), bipolar disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for instance, may present or resurface differently in adulthood than in childhood or adolescence. Adult-specific stressors, such as job strain, caregiving responsibilities, relationship challenges, financial stress, or identity transitions, can also influence the onset and type of symptoms an individual experiences. Adult-focused therapists, therefore, are trained to understand these complexities and tailor care accordingly.

How do I know if a therapist is the right fit for me?

When seeking care, it’s important to understand a therapist’s treatment specialties and their overall approach to treatment . Some therapists focus on common adult conditions like anxiety or depression, while others specialize in areas such as trauma, substance use disorders, or obsessive-compulsive disorder.

It’s also important to consider a therapist’s training when seeking care. Therapists hold various licenses depending on their training and state requirements. Common therapy credentials include Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs), Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHCs), Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs), and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs). Psychologists (PhD or PsyD) receive additional doctoral-level training and may focus on assessments or more specialized therapeutic approaches. All of these professionals can provide talk therapy but do not prescribe medication. When searching for a therapist, consider their credentials and training background to ensure a good fit.

How do I find a therapist who sees adults?

Psychology Today’s online directory allows you to search specifically for therapists who work with adults. Each provider profile includes key information such as clinical specialties, therapeutic approaches, licensure, accepted insurance plans, languages spoken, and session fees. Reviewing these details can help you determine whether a particular provider aligns with your needs and can indicate whether they are a good match for adult clients.
