I specialize in an expansive, holistic approach that combines Jungian, Transpersonal, and Existential theories.
—I have some limited availability at this time.— At different times in our lives, we may find ourselves feeling challenged or overwhelmed by life's demands and transitions. It is during these challenges, that a trusting relationship with a counselor can give dynamic support, to sort through our inner world, thoughts, and feelings. Through this journey work we may begin to experience ourselves and our stories in a new way. This offers the opportunity for more conscious connection, authentic expression, and balance in our lives.

My approach can be described as Client-centered strength-based positive psychology. This assumes that you are whole and have internal resources to work through life issues but may not have learned how to access them. I will help you locate and strengthen your inner resources. I don't subscribe to the "disease" model, which assumes that people have something wrong that needs to be fixed. Life holds challenges, and sometimes bad things do happen to good people. It's not what happens to us, but how we react to what happens.

You may find yourself caught in tiring patterns with food or feeling uneasy in your body, carrying layers of shame, self-doubt, or expectations that no longer fit. Perhaps you’re navigating a significant life transition—such as perimenopause, pregnancy, or the postpartum period—and noticing shifts in your body, mood, or sense of who you are. Therapy can be a space to slow down and make sense of these experiences. Over time, it may become possible to relate to your body with greater compassion, rebuild trust in yourself, and move through daily life with more steadiness, ease, and self-acceptance.

I believe that in order to form healthy, rewarding relationships with others we must first learn to nurture our relationship with ourselves. If you are struggling with thoughts and behaviors that are getting in the way of living your most fulfilling life, I want to help you find a new way forward. I believe that connectivity is the origin of joy but that the world around us, and sometimes we ourselves, so often thwart our ability to forge meaningful connections. I want to help you identify and integrate the parts of yourself that need attention, so that you may nurture your most authentic self.

My practice attracts thoughtful, motivated people who want more than insight—they want real change. I work with individuals facing life, vocational, and spiritual transitions, and with couples at every stage of relationship. Many couples arrive believing they want out, when in truth they want a way out of the pain. Together we uncover the real source of the conflict and begin creating the connection they long for. Drawing on Gottman Level 2 training, Imago, and PAIRS work, I help clients understand what is happening between them and learn practical ways to move forward.

Hi, my name's Nando and I specialize in helping people have emotionally open and compassionate relationships both with themselves and others - welcome to my practice. I work with both individuals and couples. So much of life satisfaction and personal effectiveness is based on how well you understand yourself (mindfulness), how you treat yourself (compassion), and how you advocate for your desires. With others, relationships are built through flexibility, mutually respectful listening and co-creating mutually delightful interactions. I see relationship as a spiritual path of learning to treat all sentient beings with kindness.

Finding a deeper connection to self, others, and life events is part of the work we will do together. Coming into an awareness of your own thoughts and developing compassionate understanding of yourself fosters a loving kindness practice that can go with you into any situation. It also will help you create ease in your body and mind that begins to put a pause on past or future thinking. And as we begin to learn how to drop into the present moment with what is we begin to bring the wonderment of life back into our realty.

I enjoy practicing psychotherapy that is holistic and life-transforming. As an LMFT with depth specialization, I listen to your emotional heart and soul to heal the mind. The issues that you experience as an individual, couple or in relationship with family deserve attention with that kind of dedication. Trained in integral psychology with specialization in complex addiction issues, I'm also honored to have over a decade of apprenticeship with indigenous elders. This experience allows me to carefully blend modern evidenced-based clinical modalities with ancestral healing traditions in my practice.

Transpersonal Therapists
How does transpersonal therapy work?
Transpersonal therapy focuses on a patient’s spirituality and meaning in life. Transpersonal therapists might borrow from Eastern traditions as well as Western psychology. They may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork to produce altered states of consciousness. The therapist helps the patient to access their consciousness and spirituality to work through difficult mental states.

How long does transpersonal therapy last?
Because the goal is to understand a person as a whole, including their spirituality, treatment can range from months to a year or beyond. While patients learn the philosophy behind transpersonal therapy during treatment, they can also practice its principles throughout life after therapy sessions have ended.

Is transpersonal therapy effective?
Patients have found success with transpersonal therapy; this method is useful in improving anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity, fears, relationship problems, and other concerns. Improvements in problem areas can continue even after transpersonal therapy ends, as individuals can utilize the tools they’ve learned during treatment sessions.

What are the limitations of transpersonal therapy?
There is some research on the effectiveness of transpersonal therapy, but empirical support for this therapy approach is sparse. It does not have the robust evidence base of other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy.
