Margaret is a clinical psychologist having been a therapist for over 30 years. I received my PhD from United States International University in San Diego. Prior to that I received my BS and MS in nursing from UCLA. My specializations are in stress management, psycho-spiritual issues, women's issues, seniors issues, depression and anxiety . I am a Certified Trauma Specialist, and have worked with the San Luis Obispo Ca. Fire Association. I have had private practices in Ventura, Sutter Creek, Morro Bay, Los Osos and now teletherapy due to covid virus. I only work with individual adults.

I specialize in anxiety, especially clients who have had past trauma. I work with both individuals and couples, especially if someone in the relationship has had past trauma. Some of the types of trauma I address in individual therapy are abandonment trauma, sexual trauma, racial trauma and physical abuse. Other challenges I support individuals with include perfectionism, overly responsible, avoidance, fight or flight responses relationship issues & grief. Emotional healing is key to recovering from your past. I support my clients to understand their emotions better and learn how to move through their emotions in a healthy way.

Welcome! I work at Horizon Counseling Center as an Associate Marriage Family Therapist under the supervision of Ashley Barnes-Brown CA12766. In my practice, I employ Brainspotting, a trauma-informed therapeutic approach, to help unearth and explore thoughts, emotions, and sensations that may have been unintentionally suppressed or concealed. I also integrate Internal Family Systems therapy, which emphasizes the presence of various aspects within ourselves. According to this framework, there are no inherently "negative" parts, and the therapeutic objective is to assist these parts in discovering their more balanced functions.
