We believe that we all have the capability to survive through difficult times and unwanted emotions. We also believe that we are all worthwhile and valuable individuals that have something valuable to offer others. However, sometimes the world and people around us can seem discouraging and shame-based. One of our goals is to model self-worth and provide our clients with constant encouragement until they are able to see themselves as a worthwhile person that is capable of also encouraging others. I believe that the best therapy is radically empathetic, that all people hold the innate capacity for healing, and that courage and strength are discovered when people are allowed the space to express and release emotional pain. I use relational, evidence based approaches and work collaboratively with my clients to target the issues most challenging to them. The approaches I use vary and are dependent on the needs of the individual, family, or couple that I'm working with, modalities include DBT, TF-CBT, EMDR, psychodynamic and attachment theory.

We are all trying to live a life that has meaning and worth. When our best efforts don't work, we may become "stuck". This is where a counselor can help you interpret and re-frame the issues to chart a path to help get "UNstuck". My goal in therapy is to create a safe place to talk about the issues and work towards a solution. Maya Angelou says it best: "You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them. If you cannot make a change, change the way you have been thinking. You might find a new solution."

As you know, the therapeutic alliance or relationship you have with your therapist, is one of the most important components of successful treatment outcomes, regardless of the specific form of therapy that is employed. In other words, you need to look for a “good fit” for your specific needs, values and challenges that are before you. With that in mind, I have the following for your review. Past experiences: United States Navy, retired Minnesota State Trooper, ordained minister and adjunct faculty member at 3 different colleges. Don’t worry, I don’t give out tickets, nor make arrests, nor push my religious beliefs upon anyone.

Not accepting new clients
Not accepting new clients at this time. The hardest part of therapy is making that first call. The last few years have sucked, amiright? You might be feeling "Meh", "blah", or work has taken a toll. You feeling overwhelmed or more stressed than before? You remember when things felt easier, you were happier, and you spent more time on things you truly enjoyed. You'd like to go to work and still have energy left to enjoy activities you used to love. You want to be closer to those you care about but there's "something" in the way. What have you got to lose? Even more, what do you have to gain? I've got someone to help!

I have experience working with people diagnosed with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Anxiety, Mood Disorders, ODD, Trauma, and Relationship Conflicts.
My ideal client is someone that has an idea of their goals and what they would like to pursue in therapy, but needs the extra insight and encouragement to clarify those goals or to take the first steps in accomplishing them. They may be struggling with mood issues, have trouble controlling their thoughts, or be dealing with difficult or contentious relationships. They are in need of someone to listen to them, to provide empathy and validation, and then to help guide them along the path they have chosen to make the changes they wish to see in their life.

Hello, I'm Brad Branham. I enjoy working with anyone who is motivated towards instituting change, improving their mood, situation, or life in the goals they choose. As a marriage and family therapist, I love working with couples and families. However, a significant amount of my nearly fourteen years of clinical experience has been working children, adolescents, and teenagers. I also enjoy working with those who are oppositional, anxious, depressed, have experienced trauma, are seeking parenting skills, or are looking for emotional management and coping strategies.

I am passionate about working with teenagers and families as they navigate these years of growth and change. This time can be both exciting and challenging, and I am honored to be invited into this space with my clients. I take a down-to-earth, empathetic, and energetic approach in my therapy. I have been told by many of individuals I work with, that I am easy to talk to and create a comfortable, judgement free space to explore issues related to identity, self-worth, depression, and more. Oppositional Defiance (ODD) Therapists

What is the most effective treatment for oppositional defiant disorder?

The treatment of Oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) will involve multiple approaches designed to help both the youngster and their parents, sometimes including medication. A therapist will help a child learn ways to regulate their emotions, curb their impulsiveness, and counteract anger, defiance, and disruption, while showing parents ways to bring these lessons into their home. A technique designed for children with conditions like ODD, known as Collaborative and Proactive Solutions (CPS), may also be used. CPS addresses a child’s concerns and rewards appropriate responses while discouraging harsh punishment or criticism.

How does treatment for oppositional defiant disorder work?

Treatment for ODD addresses the issues underlying a child’s defiance and disruption, the emotional regulation and impulse-control skills they lack, and the way adults respond to them. ODD therapy is based on the idea that children with the disorder understand the difference between right and wrong, that they want to behave well, and that, with help, they can. By responding to the child with empathy instead of harsh criticism, ignoring nonviolent behaviors, and rewarding positive actions, a therapist, and the other adults in a child’s life, can help children improve their behavior.

How long does therapy for oppositional defiant disorder take?

Therapy for oppositional defiant disorder is not a short-term undertaking. Depending on the severity of a child’s symptoms, their age, the presence of other conditions like ADHD, anxiety or a mood disorder, and their family dynamic, it can take months before improvement is noted. The cooperation of parents and teachers is crucial, because the skills learned in therapy must be practiced in real-world situations, with all their potential triggers.

Does oppositional defiant disorder go away?

ODD can remit following treatment. ODD is often diagnosed in nursery school, and early intervention is essential for a positive prognosis. In two-thirds of children, according to the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, symptoms resolve within three years.
