Welcome to Bridgelight Counseling! It is my hope to come along side you in your journey and assist you in reaching your goals. I started Bridgelight with the purpose of providing affordable, compassionate, and effective counseling. I grew up in Illinois, and earned my master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois. I have experience working in schools, community mental health centers, private practice, and ministry settings. I am committed to continue to pursue greater knowledge and deeper experience in order to better serve the hurting around me.

I specialize in women’s mental health, specifically perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, and also see young adults experiencing various life transitions. Whether you're a new parent and experiencing intrusive thoughts, anxiety, or depression, or you are feeling lost and unsure due to different life circumstances and changes, it can be hard to experience the great joy of these new beginnings when you're not feeling your best. I utilize Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as well as a collaborative, non-judgemental approach where we will explore the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that are interfering with your ability to thrive.

As a Therapist I strive to provide a comfortable, respectful and empathetic space that allows individuals and families to gain insight, learn effective coping strategies, and promote positive lasting change. Each client has their own set of skills, needs and experiences that I am mindful of during the process. My approach as a Therapist is to create a safe and supportive environment. I utilize evidence-based practices including mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and behavioral modification.

I have had the privilege of working with many different populations in many different settings. I have worked with toddlers, adolescents, teens, adults, and the elderly. I have worked in school settings, case management, the foster care system, and substance/mental health.

At Lakes Counseling Center, we have a team of clinicians who specialize in various areas, ensuring you find the right fit for your needs. If we are not the "right fit," Rachael would be happy to refer you to other providers in the area. We offer services to help manage anxiety, depression, trauma, EMDR, couples counseling, grief, LGBTQ+, and ADHD, to name a few.

KB Psychotherapy feels it is a privilege to work with each of our clients and/or their families. My clients set the pace; determining just how quickly or slowly they want to proceed. While some only need a few sessions a month, others prefer a more frequent schedule. As a tele-therapy provider I offer the security of a private, confidential “office” with the ease of “meeting” you anywhere at times convenient to you.

Life and the world today can cause a whirlwind of emotions that can be difficult to manage. I want to help you find relief, strength, purpose and more. We all have positive and special qualities that can help when we are feeling so much, and being heard without judgement can be empowering and the beginning to lifting some of the emotional pain.

Not feeling like your sex life is what it used to be? Are you experiencing less or no desire at all? As we age, so do our bodies and with that comes changes in hormone function and other physiological changes that can (and do) impact our sex drive and overall sexual functioning and satisfaction. On top of the physiological changes are the multiple stressors we are faced with daily. Life is busy and stressful and let’s face it, we are exhausted by the end of the day. Let's work together to address the obstacles that keep you from feeling fulfilled in your sexual experiences.

I understand the difficulties accessing care for mental health concerns when you need them. Taking that first step shouldn't take months when you are ready to seek help. I provide mental health therapy for adults as well as for family or friends who struggle to support or understand the needs of their loved ones.

Psychotherapy is a lot like gardening. Even a small plot will add beauty and harmony to life, for the process of gardening is just as rewarding as the size of the crop. Generally, deeper tilling leads to better results: roots reach deeper into sources of nurturance, and are better protected from the stresses of heat, cold and drought. In a crisis, chemical treatments may be helpful, but be cautious: they may reduce the garden's natural resilience and carry the risk of dependence; they should be used judiciously and withdrawn as soon as possible.
