As a psychoanalyst I have studied for many years including infant and young child observational studies, my clinical experience includes trauma, depression, anxiety, interpersonal relationships, and life-changing events.

I have experience working with adults struggling with addiction, anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, communication difficulties, low self-esteem, multicultural issues, and interpersonal relationship conflict. In addition, I have a background in facilitating family therapy, couples counseling, and group processes. I specialize in working with women (teens, young mothers, adults, minorities). I am also working toward specializing in women’s health counseling, perinatal counseling, and other specific women’s issues.

In addition, I am a Certified EMDR therapist and work with people that have experienced all types of trauma. Formerly a Director of Recovery Services at an addiction treatment facility, I am comfortable working with those struggling with Substance Use Disorders and their families. I also enjoy working with LGBTQIA individuals and families. As a yoga instructor and practitioner, I incorporate mindfulness and meditation skills into my practice whenever possible.

Hello! I'm glad I have caught your attention. I have been in the field of counseling for over 40 years. As the former owner and director of The Women's Counseling Center, Richmond, I worked with both male and female clients presenting with widely varied issues. My specialties include working with Postpartum Depression, Panic Disorder - with and without agoraphobia, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders, Bereavement Issues, and stress and anxiety management. My counseling style is eclectic due to the broad range of training I've gone through in my Master's and Doctoral programs, along with continuing education classes needed for licensure

I have a particular desire to work with clients who have experienced birth trauma, are experiencing postpartum mental health struggles, and who experience anxiety and/or grief and loss. I also have experience working with the particular struggle of naming and recovering from religious trauma.

What all of my clients have in common is a desire to be self-reflective (even though this may be scary), to learn more about themselves at a deeper (unconscious) level, and to grow in ways that allow them to have the life and relationships for which their hearts yearn. Psychotherapy is a process of learning to listen to, care for and heal the pained parts of ourselves that burden our mind, body, heart and spirit. Including the body in this process is essential, as it carries our pain. This is not always easy, but is certainly self-empowering and life-changing.
