In 30+ years as a couples therapist, I've helped many couples work through problems to create the kind of partnership they truly want. Most couples tell me that they want to feel connected with their partner again; to stop the 'same old arguments' from cycling over and over; to stop living like roommates; to end the painful silences; to feel heard and understood; and to feel hopeful, and happy again.

My practice as a therapist is informed by my understanding of systems theory. We are always interacting with our world based on our experiences, and we interpret immediate situations through the lens we developed based on our past. I believe it is important to consider the whole person when they present for counseling, whether coming as an individual, a couple, or a family.

I consider the therapeutic relationship between clients and myself to be collaborative, as I believe we are the experts on ourselves. My primary focus is to create and maintain a safe therapeutic environment conducive to healing and personal growth. I am interested in working with survivors of trauma, both past and present. I consider it a privilege to participate in a client's healing process as they explore the various ways in which their experiences impact their current functioning. Often times, unresolved wounds manifest in self-destructive behaviors (i.e. addiction, disordered eating, patterns of unhealthy relationships, etc)

Have you struggled with feeling good about yourself? How does your perception of yourself impact your life? Each of us have lived experiences that leave imprints on our lives sometimes impacting our ability to trust, and connect with ourselves and those around us. I aim to foster a space in therapy that invites room for curiosity, safety, and also bravery in order to encourage---growth, self-discovery and healing. Have you ever asked yourself why “ME”? Does this question come to mind when you look around and others appear to have it all together? Are you dealing with a habit or addiction you wish you could be free from once and for all? How do you feel about your self-worth and self-esteem? If these are questions and feelings you have felt/feel and would like to find answers, please come and let’s find solutions together. I’m drawn to this work due to my own experiences in life that left me destitute, alone, and with nothing of any emotional, physical, or spiritual value.

Teletherapy
Teletherapy and Online counseling have grown enormously as a medium for therapy since the advent of social distancing. Most therapists are happy to provide sessions by video or phone.

All professionals are licensed to provide video therapy to clients within the State in which they hold their license. Cross State licensing exists, but is rare.

So if you're a client in Utah, this list of teletherapists are licensed to provide therapy to you online (by phone, video or text based chat) because they are within your state. They are sorted nearest to furthest, with professionals in Utah listed first.

Teletherapy via phone or video can be very similar to conventional in person sessions. The message is the same, even if the medium is different. There are some advantages in the form of convenience, lack of travel and being in comfort of your own home. Set against those, professionals find it more difficult to read non-verbal signals of their clients, and you may find you yourself can be more easily distracted.
