I have a bachelor's in psychology and a master's in Marriage and Family Therapy and as a licensed therapist my experience includes working in private practice as well as a substance abuse rehabilitation center. I have specialized training to work with couples utilizing Gottman principles and treating anxiety and OCD with exposure therapy. I welcome everyone to my practice and treat many issues. I am also a certified Trauma Professional.

In an atmosphere of acceptance, I will establish and maintain a trusting relationship to promote your growth and self-direction. I use brief therapy techniques to assist clients with their anxiety, stress, depression, sexual abuse, grief and relationship conflicts.

Our basic theory is that therapy can help a client deal with current issues -and works best when the client and therapist join together to work on these issues. I don't believe therapy should take a lifetime, but I hope to be your therapist, as needed, through out your life. I specialize in "Relationship Issues" - through Counseling and Coaching. My goal is to help the Couple decide what is best for them, & help them accomplish that.. . In Couples Coaching, the partners learn life skills that will change their relationship. Couples Coaching focuses on proven skills and techniques for the quickest, solution to couples' issues.

My approach to counseling is one of respect and show of sincerity to the individuals I meet. Among the many positive feed backs I've received is the non-judgmental, warm atmosphere I offer to allow for sharing thoughts and feelings from where we can begin the healing process. I respect cultural differences and value them as an important aspect of my clinical practice. I take special interest in relationship, trauma, and multicultural issues. I do thorough assessments and accompany you through your struggles in life. I take an active role in the sessions with questions and suggestions.

Dr. Abbassi is an expert in couple's communication and sexual issues. He is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist(LMFT), Certified Sex Therapist by American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and approved Supervisor of LPC and LMFT. He works with individual (children and Adults) in the area of depression, anxiety and general life difficulties. Dr. Abbassi has been in private practice for over 26 years. As a full Professor at local Institute of Higher Education, Dr. Abbassi teaches and provides supervision to Counseling Interns for both LPC & LMFT boards.
