As a licensed therapist personally recovered from addiction & an eating disorder, I bring a unique perspective to therapy. I have a profound understanding of emotions, thoughts & behaviors intertwined in addiction & eating disorders. I understand directly the challenges, complexities & triumphs with these struggles. I know what it's like to face setbacks, doubts, depression & anxieties of relapse. My journey has enriched my professional practice with a deeper level of empathy & insight, allowing me to connect with you & create a safe, non-judgmental space for you openly share your feelings & emotions w/o fear of stigma or shame.

Navigating through trauma can leave you feeling let down, emotionally unstable, unable to sleep or stop the constant negative thoughts, and emotionally overwhelmed; with little to no understanding of what to do next. You may wonder what it feels like be “normal” not to scan the room for what may be lurking to harm you, to have fun and be happy, to just have a good relationship with your partner, to date again? I believe insight/education plus a plan of action makes for positive changes.

Since 1970 I have walked with many persons, couples and families who need supportive, fresh ears and eyes, a compassionate heart, wise experience and holistic perspective regarding life's challenges, transitions, burdens, growth points and life choices. I learn each one's story is unique and may offer the opportunity for new meaning and purpose. I seek to know and connect with each one I am honored and often blessed to serve at the core of who she or he is and not lose sight of that one's uniqueness midst the presenting depression, anxiety, grief, infidelity, identity clarification, trauma, worry, miscommunication and addiction.

We all face difficult challenges or situations that affect our way of life, who we are, and our social/family environments resulting in hurt, pain, depression, anxiety, feeling of grief/loss, and need to be validated and accepted. No one should go through these challenges alone as I meet you where you are in life's travels and assist you in navigating these difficulties with my years of experience and education. I work with survivors of childhood abuse, those with PTSD, and addictions. Abuse and trauma leaves a lasting impact on your body and can create symptoms like anxiety, depression, substance abuse, troubled relationships, and insomnia. Is it difficult to function in day-to-day life or do you feel like you just can't get it together? You may be feeling lost, hopeless, stuck, and afraid. This helps when ADHD is suspected or a student is having difficulty with school.

Making a choice to embark on a journey towards healing takes courage. Talking to someone about infidelity, sex, and addiction takes even more. These topics can cause isolation, shame, and hopelessness, whether it's love and relationship issues, infidelity, pornography addictions, or sexually compulsive behaviors. Additionally, partners, spouses, or family members may experience trauma, grief, or isolation caused by these behaviors. There is hope and a path that can lead to a healthy and fulfilling life, leading to inner peace and understanding.

Elisabeth has provided services to individuals of all ages and families impacted by Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and cooccurring disorders. Through her curiosity and genuine interest in the well-being of others, she has broadened her experience and knowledge in mental health to include assisting others with Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), eating disorders, addiction, depression, and much more.

Dr. Boland has a general psychotherapy practice treating children, adolescents and adults . He has been in private practice since 1988 and specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Behavioral Family Psychotherapy. Dr. Boland graduated Summa Cum Laude (top 2%) from the University of Northern Colorado in 1981 and received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of South Carolina in 1987. He completed his psychology internship at the Medical College of Georgia and his postdoctoral supervision at G. Werber Bryan Psychiatric Hospital in Columbia, SC. He is licensed in South Carolina as a clinical psychologist.

I have over 30 years experience in the mental health field. I have extensive knowledge and experience working with people suffering from anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, schizophrenia, OCD, trauma, PTSD, domestic violence, complicated grief and relationship issues. For 17 years I have worked in a day treatment program where I provided individual, group and family counseling targeting clients suffering with range of issues from ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorders, physical/sexual abuse and substance abuse. Only Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Self-Pay with South Carolina residents.

There is a solution. There is hope. And there is healing. Anxiety, depression, disordered eating, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, disruption in relationships, substance abuse, and on and on. These are curable, changeable, healable issues. When you go straight to the root of the issue, you can bring deep, lasting change. And we now know that the root of every mental health disorder (and many physical diseases as well) is some form of unresolved trauma. Trauma refers to any moment in our lives that we were unsafe in some way. Big or small, single events or years-long patterns-if we aren't able to process it, we store it.
