I have many years of experience working with individuals who struggle with mental health and addiction problems. I use a skill-based approach to treatment called dialectical behavioral therapy. This type of treatment focuses on learning how to live in the moment, manage interpersonal relationships effectively, handle life's challenges with grace and competence, and understand and deal with feelings in constructive ways. Using my training and diagnostic knowledge I will develop a comprehensive treatment plan that emphasizes relapse prevention and living a life worth living. I work with a team of other mental health professionals including psychiatrists, and counselors.

Having received training in both Clinical and Forensic psychology, I deliver targeted Behavioral, Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral (DBT) Therapies to diverse client populations, tailored to the specific needs of each individual. I specialize in treating adolescents and adults with Personality Disorders (Borderline, Narcissistic, Antisocial), Behavioral Disorders (Oppositional Defiant, Anger), Mood Disorders (Anxiety, Depression), and Sexual Dysfunction. I also treat violent and non-violent criminal offenders, sex offenders, perpetrators of domestic violence, and various other forensic populations.

Divorce is considered to be one of the most stressful life events that an individual experiences during their lifetime, especially when children are involved. I am a forensically trained clinical psychologist and I conduct parenting plan evaluations (formerly called child custody evaluations) throughout the state of Ohio. I also have been qualified as an expert in forensic psychology and I have experience providing expert testimony in Ohio and Maryland. I also provide psychological evaluations, including for ADHD. I offer practical and individualized treatment recommendations to assist you in helping to reach your full potential.

I have over sixteen years of social service experience with adults, adolescents, and children in the fields of education, child welfare, delinquent youth, and mental health services. I have two master’s degrees in both Social Work and Criminal Justice with a concentration in Forensic Psychology. Dr. Hao Chu is a licensed clinical psychologist in Ohio. He received his Doctorate of Clinical Psychology, Psy.D., from Wright State University, School of Professional Psychology. He has years of professional experience in working with clients to overcome issues relating to anxiety, depression, trauma, and personal relationships. Dr. Chu is a cognitive-behavioral based therapist, who often integrates elements of humanistic, multicultural, and interpersonal theory in his practice.
