Hi, I'm Shonda R. Brooks, MA, LPC, NCC, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) in NJ, a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), certified Prepare/Enrich Trainer and Facilitator, and am level 1 & 2 EMDR trained. I have experience in counseling individuals, groups, families, and couples. I also work specifically with high profile clients having experience with musicians, actors, politicians, professional sports players, and more. In life, we are inundated with the hefty demands and needs of our families, jobs, organization affiliations and life goals. I work exclusively with women on an individual basis, to address issues ranging from depression/anxiety to body acceptance. I am a certified Intuitive Eating counselor, as well as a Duke-trained Integrative Health Coach. I work with women to help with life transitions, assisting them with discovering themselves again, whether it is through learning to trust themselves around food, taking the time they don’t think that they have, or helping them to tune into what is behind their self-sabotaging behaviors. Traumatic life events or mental health issues can sometimes hold us back, and I help clients to move forward on their terms.

I am very open with my patients about my understanding of their problems and what I think is likely to be helpful. I do my best to present my conceptualization clearly, and I invite feedback. Based on our shared understanding of the problem, I suggest potential interventions and foci for treatment for my patients to consider. This collaboration helps to ensure that therapy feels relevant.
