Sylvia Parsons is the founder and CEO of Sylvia Parsons and Company, Inc. specializing in the trauma informed treatment of co-occurring disorders, women in transition, and the full spectrum of addictive disorders. Sylvia has a Master of Science in Addictions Counseling. Additionally, she is a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist, Master Addictions Counselor, Board Registered Interventionist, and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. Sylvia practices Motivational Interviewing, Person Centered, and Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and works with Mothers/Fathers of addicted children/adults and their family members.

Prior to private practice, I worked in a variety of community-based jobs including in-home family therapy, crisis response, domestic violence, and adolescents interfacing with the criminal justice system. Now I enjoy working mainly with young adults and adolescents, affirming their life experience and re-imagining what a full life looks like. I'm here for the clients who find themselves operating outside of societal norms and learning how to build their own path. My clinical lens is rooted in harm-reduction, person-in-environment and trauma-informed approaches.

Helping clients - adults and teens, individuals and couples - IDENTIFY what is getting in the way of being who they want to be be and what can be done to BE who they REALLY want to be. I work with individuals on issues of depression, anxiety , weight management, grief, teen issues, parenting issues, women's issues and with couples, family or peers on relationship issues.

Many of us need an experienced caring professional to walk with us as we question, and confront our personal pain. The struggle may come in the form of loss, trauma, or overwhelming confusion. Although we often feel hopeless and helpless at these moments, the pain and struggle offer us unique opportunities for discovery and growth. l help my client work towards awareness, understanding, and healing. I work with grief, abuse, trauma, depression, anxiety, addiction, and relationship issues. Improved communication, boundaries, parenting, conflict resolution and forgiveness strengthen and heal relationships. Together we identify unhealthy thoughts and patterns that keep one stuck.

My desire in counseling is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space for one to tell their story, to go deeper and discover the their own personal way of being human and the way they want to go. As Henri Nouwen says, "Quite often it is our fear for the hidden moments in our own history that keeps us paralyzed."

We are licensed in Utah, Oregon, Maine, Minnesota, Florida, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina and Colorado. We currently offer telehealth and virtual therapeutic services. We work with individuals with a wide range of concerns including depression, mood disorders, family relations issues, substance use disorders, and co-occurring disorders. We combine different therapeutic approaches based on client's presenting concerns, goals, and motivation, such as, cognitive-behavioral, brief therapy, mindfulness, client-centered, solution-focused therapy.

My style of counseling is particularly effective with children experiencing worries and having a hard time self-regulating and/or listening to their body. I want to support you (the care-taker) and your little one. Through our relationship, communication will improve, self-esteem will boost, we will practice mindfulness and autonomy, and problem solving. I have a specialty in building emotional intelligence in children with autoimmune disorders.

Dr. Lisa Long is a psychologist based in Charlotte, North Carolina. She specializes in forensic and clinical psychological evaluations and is a qualified expert witness and court-appointed evaluator in the Carolinas, Georgia, and Kentucky. Dr. Long provides contract psychological evaluations to the Department of Social Services and the Department of Juvenile Justice and consults with attorneys on criminal and civil matters. In addition, she performs psychological evaluations for family law and immigration cases. Dr. Long is fluent in Spanish, proficient in Arabic and Russian, and holds active licenses in multiple states.

My philosophy of therapy is that people sometimes get to a point in life where they can no longer tolerate old ways of dealing with problems (i.e. substance abuse, avoidance, blaming, hiding, etc). No matter how big or how small those problems are, you may need to establish new ways of coping. I strongly believe that people can begin to recover from many mental health issues by setting their sights on the life they want, rather than continuing to run from the life they don't want. I'm a holistic, multicultural therapist helping teens and adults with trauma, eating disorders, self-worth, body image, anxiety and depression.
