Psychodynamic, Internal Family Systems IFS, Brainspotting.
Unresolved trauma impacts us deeply. Are you feeling numb and shut down or agitated and on alert. Does that resonate for you? Most of us have experienced a traumatic event during the course of our lives; how you recover is directly impacted by the kind of support you have in your life. Experiencing trauma, abuse, or neglect could mean you have fewer internal resources to combat the impact. This can lead to unhealthy ways of dealing with the pain such as addictions, self-harm, destructive relationships, isolation. Through healthy connections and therapy, you can process traumatic experiences and find joy again. I’m eager to help.

I work from an attachment perspective, with a focus on developmental trauma, integrating the mind and body through Internal Family Systems, Inner Child work, Narrative theories, with an emphasis in healing trauma through EMDR.
I work with women to help rebuild a relationship with themselves that tells them they are good, and that the adversity they have experienced is not their fault. Many of my clients have experienced relational trauma that has silenced their voice, disconnected them from their emotions and bodily experience. I enjoy working with women on various issues including emotional abuse, powerlessness, relational issues (mother-daughter relationships), boundary issues, anxiety, depression, confusion and anger. I focus my energy into creating a safe space where you can begin to know and trust yourself, experiencing a sense of empowerment.

I have training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, and my approach to counseling is trauma-informed, attachment-focused, and rooted in family systems theory.
To share your story and start a journey toward healing is profoundly brave and admirable. Being entrusted to walk alongside those who are willing to take that risk is a privilege that I don’t take lightly. I count it as a tremendous honor to be invited to sit with the clients I work with, in moments of vulnerability and hurt and in those of victory and celebration.

Sometimes, even when we know that something is wrong, we still need guidance in order to disentangle the problems that cause us suffering. Every problem has a solution and every difficult period can have a peaceful resolution. My therapeutic approach primarily stems from Family Systems Theory. I focus on emotional independence through individuation and help individuals, couples and families gain additional growth, strengths, and insights into their lives. I work on reducing negative communication patterns and installing love as an attachment bond.

My counseling theory combines a family systems view with an emotion focused therapy approach.
Over half of my work is with couples. Through training and supervision in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), I can see and hear needs and feelings long hidden for fear of being hurt again. I empathize and acknowledge real wrongs and real emotional damage to trust and respect. I hear both sides. I also offer hope. I can see when marital conflict itself offers evidence that partners still desire and need each other. I know how difficult a process forgiveness and then trust building really are. Slowly, when even one is ready to love again, I equip both to express their hearts with a gentle strength, and to hear with compassion.

I use creativity, attachment theory, and elements of Internal Family Systems to help clients find clarity and relief as we move towards well-being and a sense of empowerment.
Sometimes life doesn't go as planned, and our minds adapt the best way they know how. These adaptations are brilliant, but there comes a point in time when they no longer serve us well. Perfectionism, over-analyzing, people-pleasing, mental exhaustion, feelings of hopelessness or worthlessness, low self-esteem, conflicting thoughts and feelings, and even unexplained physical symptoms are all good reasons to reach out to a professional.

I am trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, and am currently in level 1 training of sensorimotor psychotherapy.
No matter how hard you try, you feel like you aren't good enough. You are trying so hard to figure out how to make everything fall into place, but you just can’t find the solution. You try to be everything to everyone, but there is a part of you that knows this really isn’t working. You are scared there might be something wrong with you. You are ready for relief; you just really want life to feel easier. Yet, you aren’t sure if that is possible, or how others would react if you did change. You want a therapist who can provide a shelter of calm, and who knows a path to transformation.

I have a doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy and am certified in EMDR and schema therapy, Internal Family Systems and neurofeedback.
What I have found in my 20 years of experience in practicing, teaching and publishing in the field of therapy is that I learn something new from every client that I treat. The goal of therapy, in my opinion, is to provide enough emotional safety for clients to examine their lives and create a narrative that allows for growth and connection.
