I specialize in identity and role exploration along with the managing the related disorders that come with masking, keeping up appearances, or lost sense of self. These can include depression, big emotions, stress, burnout and high anxiety- especially among those working in high pressure jobs or other stressful roles. This also includes exploring identity and social roles as an LGBTIA+ or Autistic person, dissociative disorders, ADHD and executive functioning challenges in general.

I work with adolescents (14+) and adults who deal with ADHD, anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, life changes, bipolar disorder, and trauma. I find particular meaning in working with LGBTQ+ folks, whether the content of therapy revolves around queer or trans identity or my client needs someone they don’t have to explain their identity or pronouns in great depth and can move forward in processing other needs.

Seeking therapy takes immense courage, and the therapy session should be a place to explore, question, struggle, and heal without judgment. In my practice, I utilize a systemic, feminist approach that honors the innate dignity, worth, and capacity for change in all human beings. I believe that healing and change happen in our relationships to others and to a global sense of humanity. I strive to create a safe container in which to practice interpersonal healing, utilizing the therapeutic relationship and process as the primary tool for creating change.

I operate from a holistic lens, welcoming the all aspects of you and your family, including sexual orientation, gender expression, racial and cultural messages, religion and spirituality into the therapeutic exploration.

I work with people from the ages of 12 to 100! I specialize in trauma and use a solution focused approach. I am trained in EMDR and love seeing the small successes clients achieve. I also offer clinical supervision.

Mitchel is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, Licensed School Counselor, and MN Board Approved Supervisor for LPCs/LPCCs. He holds a Master's Degree in Counseling Education & Supervision from Winona State University and has been in practice since 2015. Mitchel's practice involves individual psychotherapy for adolescents and adults presenting with a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, grief/trauma, life transitions, and more. Mitchel also works with families and couples in need of support. He is an Adjunct Instructor in the Master's of Counseling program at Hazelden Graduate School of Addiction Studies.

Life gets hard, messy, and overwhelming which can lead us to feel like we’re not good enough. We get stuck in the stories of our inner critic and everything just feels harder. We turn to disconnection, numbing out, or over-working to get by. Somewhere along the way, we might even lose connection with our self and the people who matter to us. It can be difficult to understand why we’re feeling this way and what our needs are.
