Additionally, I am a board-certified music therapist and I utilize music and other expressive arts with people who benefit from more creative methods.
Do you feel a sense of dread when your alarm buzzes in the morning? Do stress and anxiety make it feel impossible to get out of bed and face the day? Anxious thoughts and chronic stress can make life difficult, affecting your work, school, home life, and relationships. When dealing with these kinds of struggles, it is helpful to have a therapist who will listen and provide compassion and support. A therapist can help you develop personalized goals and provide you with tools to navigate challenges. Through therapy, you can build self-confidence, improve your relationships, and experience a greater sense of inner peace.

On a more experiential level, I utilize principles and strategies of EMDR, Identity and Values Exploration, as well as Expressive Arts Therapy.
My client has the answers they need inside of them, they just need some outside perspective. Most of my clients have experienced trauma in their lives in some form, and struggled with finding themselves or finding meaning in their life experience afterward. I enjoy navigating and exploring the full-range of human experience including issues pertaining to identity and sexuality, unearthing fears and anxieties, and building expression in all areas of life.

I have a background in the arts, and I enjoy working with both children and adults interested in the expressive arts as a form of therapy.
Every person is a unique individual who relates to the world in a different way. My goal is to form a collaborative relationship with each person that leads to self-discovery and growth. The therapeutic process is about each individual person's unique experience with their own symptoms and behaviors. My commitment to each person I see is to help resolve unwanted thoughts, feelings, or behaviors that may cause pain. I utilize a non-judgmental approach, which includes warmth, empathy, and an open mind.

I enjoy implementing play and expressive arts therapy with children and using their passions and hobbies to teach them the skills they need to succeed in the community and at school.
How to be a good parent is one of the most widely searched parenting questions on the web. So many parents are searching for answers to improve their relationship with their child. It can be frustrating to see your child struggling or constantly challenging your every move. You may ask yourself, where did I go wrong? What should I have done differently? The truth is, there is no "one perfect parenting style". You can, however, learn the skills needed to support your child's unique developmental needs and teach your child the necessary skills to communicate his/her needs. It’s never too late to implement change.

I incorporate both traditional and alternative holistic therapies into your healing experience such as: talk therapy, art therapy, nature therapy, drumming and other expressive arts along with mindfulness and meditation.
Are you unsure of where your life is heading or which path to take next? Are you anxious, depressed or feeling the loss of a loved one? Do feel like the weight of the world is on your shoulders or perhaps crumbling before your eyes? Have you questioned your spirituality, faith and/or belief systems or perhaps going through a Dark night of the soul? Have you or someone you know/love been diagnosed with cancer? Does chronic pain or neuropathy keep you from functioning throughout the day or not sleep well at night? If you answered yes to any of these questions, I can help guide you through these transitions.

I tailor my approach to my clients' individual needs and personal goals whether that be through traditional talk therapy, or the creative and exploratory nature of using expressive arts .
The therapy process can be challenging, but I believe that the client/therapist relationship is key for effective work and healing, and that trust is the cornerstone of any therapeutic relationship. As a therapist, it is my mission to provide a safe, non-judgmental environment filled with empathy and compassion, providing you with a space that gives you a timeout from the distractions of the world, and allows you to find your voice and empower yourself to improve your overall wellbeing. Also as a military VETERAN I am knowledgable of, and able to identify with, the needs of veterans who may be seeking care tailored to them.

I often utilize the expressive arts as a tool for healing while serving as a vehicle for clients to explore ways to express themselves and their passions.
The path to healing can be confusing and scary at times and we all experience suffering in completely unique ways. I invite you to explore and honor your own life's journey with compassion and acceptance. I invite you to shed light on those pieces of yourself that have been in the dark and I offer my insight and support as a holistic therapist. I enjoy working with adults of all ages and I have specialized training in health psychology (i.e., help individuals adjust, manage or cope with physical/chronic illness).

I have always been amazed at the inherent healing qualities of art. By providing my clients with a safe holding environment, I pave the way to explore their concerns in therapy. Art has a way of quickly bringing issues from the unconscious into the conscious realm where they can be processed verbally or just witnessed. Art is wonderful for increasing tolerance of frustration, delay of gratification and learning to verbalize emotional states. I use all of the Expressive Arts to create individually tailored experientials to promote increased understanding and growth with my clients.

Being a human can be hard! But it’s ok to not be ok, and I’m here to help you manage & make sense of things that make life difficult. Within therapy, we work to recognize thought patterns & behaviors that trigger unwanted emotions or reactions from the outside world. Through this awareness, you can start to make small changes that make a big impact. A peaceful reality is possible as you learn to move through life’s obstacles with grace. Within my practice, I utilize not only talk therapy but yoga, meditation, & creative expression to work through things like depression or anxiety.

You're trying to give what you didn’t get. Maybe you feel stuck or unreliable in your parenting -- why is it so hard to do some days, or with certain ages? You wonder, did I miss the window for having an impact on my kids? Will they only remember our bad times? Will I get to feel like a self again? You yearn for another voice, another presence that is unbiased & trustworthy, to help you process & give room to all the swirling hurt & uncertainty. You want a consistent, steady feeling, and self trust.

You can do this. You know how to get up and out of bed for work every morning, even though the courage to face the day is barely there. You like your career but it's stressful. Anxiety is your baseline. You have a hard time asking for help. You’re a leader at work and at home. You grew up with a parent who struggled with workaholism, addiction and/or mental illness. You know you have childhood trauma but if you let yourself acknowledge this, you’re worried you would start crying and not be able to stop. For years you swallowed those tears back down as the fear of not being good enough gnawed at your core.

We have a new therapist, Dalyn! He is accepting new clients. Fear, uncertainty, loneliness, and a lot of anxiety is going around. This is a very difficult time for everyone. Time for you to feel heard, be understood, appreciated, validated, and accepted for who you are. You are strong and valuable even if you need some help. Let's stop fighting the stigma of who we are and aren't supposed to be and help you become the person you want to be. Professional, empathetic, confidential help is one text, call, or email away. We are still accepting new clients for in person and online sessions. Now accepting teens and adolescents!

Teletherapy
Teletherapy and Online counseling have grown enormously as a medium for therapy since the advent of social distancing. Most therapists are happy to provide sessions by video or phone.

All professionals are licensed to provide video therapy to clients within the State in which they hold their license. Cross State licensing exists, but is rare.

So if you're a client in Michigan, this list of teletherapists are licensed to provide therapy to you online (by phone, video or text based chat) because they are within your state. They are sorted nearest to furthest, with professionals in Michigan listed first.

Teletherapy via phone or video can be very similar to conventional in person sessions. The message is the same, even if the medium is different. There are some advantages in the form of convenience, lack of travel and being in comfort of your own home. Set against those, professionals find it more difficult to read non-verbal signals of their clients, and you may find you yourself can be more easily distracted.
