I love helping people heal and live more fulfilling lives. I will work to help you find the self-compassion, acceptance, confidence, and concrete skills you need to address past traumas and make the changes you want in your life. I work from a humanistic, feminist, and trauma-informed framework and utilize DBT, CBT, MSC, somatic, and other approaches to best help my clients. I have over 20 years of experience treating clients (many are U of M students) who struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, loss, self-esteem, adjustment, relationship issues, and other concerns. I combine talk therapy with practical exercises
(such as Mindful Self-Compassion, somatic experiencing, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills) to help clients manage and regulate painful, intense emotions, be less self-critical, tolerate distress, and address problems in interpersonal relationships. Past or present traumas can truly be resolved when adequate coping abilities are in place.
The most important factor in successful therapy is a good relationship between therapist and client. It is important to me that you feel completely safe, cared for, and understood. The goal of DBT therapy is to "create a life worth living" (Marsha Linehan, PhD). It is my privilege to assist clients to reach this goal.
