I am a bilingual (Spanish/English) bicultural, LICSW, clinical social worker. I obtained my MSW and PhD degrees from Smith College, School for Social Work. I have worked in the mental health field for over 25 years providing individual and family therapy to adults, children, adolescents and couples. I specialize in parent-child and sibling conflict, depression, grief/loss, domestic violence, anxiety, trauma, acculturation, relocation/immigration and life transitions. I am also an Associate Professor at Westfield State University, and adjunct faculty at Columbia University, Smith College and Boston University.

I am a licensed psychologist, bilingual in English and Spanish. With over 17 years of experience working in community mental health, schools, nursing homes, healthcare system and private practice, I have served individuals from the age of 6 to 99 who have struggled with a wide variety of behavioral and mental health concerns including ADHD, Autism, Anxiety, Depression and trauma. In order to treat mental health concerns, I have been trained in different models including DBT, CBT, TF-CBT, hypnosis and Accelerated Resolution Therapy. I also specialize in psychological testing for Autism, ADHD, dementia and R/O of other diagnoses.

I am a social worker that does community activism. Many times people have problems because of the injustices built into our system. In my work in therapy I can help people to identify issues in their lives and give them skills to deal with situations they find themselves in. I want to remove stigma from mental health treatment by offering it to everyone. I am committed to treating people with every day issues that may negatively impact their lives so that they can move forward to have happy and successful lives. After a twenty-year career in the education field, I am confident we can work together effectively on what has brought you to the point of reaching out for help. My style of counseling combines an awareness of how past experiences impact our thinking and behaviors with a mindfulness-based appreciation of our unchanging core. If you're in a troubling relationship I help to develop safe spaces to deepen connection and intimacy through deep listening and self-compassion. Families looking for help with teens can expect a variety of concrete approaches to engage them involving multiple family members as appropriate.

I currently work with only adults and couples. I work with clients who need to work on symptoms such as anxiety, depression, agoraphobia, academic problems, anger management, bereavement and grief issues, communication problems with family members and partners, self-esteem, separation and divorce, sleep disturbance, work stress, and much more. I use Cognitive behavioral therapy, systems approach, relaxation, and guided imagery. I also provide assertiveness training. I also use Clinical Hypnosis for weight loss, smoke cessation, nail biting, and other behavioral changes. I also do Christian counseling with focus on spirituality.

I do not offer afterschool appointments. Before 3pm only. I am a child + family therapist. I work with clients ages 3-22. I have particular experience working with LGBTQ+ clients, history of trauma, anxiety, depression, and DCF-involvement. I am passionate about neurodiversity affirming therapy. I believe that creating a safe therapeutic alliance is the anchor of healing. I aim to regenerate a sense of safety, expand clients’ access to support and self-determination, and reinforce already existing strengths. I build a collaboration by showing up with presence, attunement, and openness to connect.

Meeting the needs of students who learn differently. We provide person and online assessments. Independent Educational Evaluations (IEE) Psychological, Neuropsychological Talented and Gifted Assessment IQ Evaluations, Achievement Testing, Social/Emotional Functioning, Learning Disabilities Testing and Autism screening. We also provide educational consults and attend team meetings for the development of the IEP.
