I am a therapist at Brookline Adult and Child Counseling. I work with children, adolescents, and adults through a variety of challenges including depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, LGBTQIA+ experiences, and life transitions. I use a person-centered and strengths based approach when it comes to understanding and conceptualizing clients. I offer an integrative approach, drawing from various modalities of treatment such as narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing.

I am the founding executive director/owner of Aeon Counseling & Consulting, a company that empowers individuals and organizations to achieve their missions. I have nurtured my clinical practice independently with Spanish speaking populations for more than a decade and I believe in an approach that is ruthlessly compassionate.

Melanie (they/them) is a Mental Health Counselor from Puerto Rico with a diverse set of experiences across settings who strives to build trusting relationships and create a warm caring environment where you are invited to challenge ideas of judgement and critique, instead seeking to embrace self-compassion and build upon your strengths to help achieve satisfaction and fulfillment in day-to-day life. As well as supporting individuals and families with repair in relationships, building resiliency, and addressing the impact of systems issues, such as school support (IEP/504/CRA), hospitalizations, discrimination, among others.

I have years of experience working with children, young adults, their families, and support systems in a number of settings. I have had training and applied clinical practice in experiences and related diagnoses such as; Domestic & Intimate Partner Violence, Trauma, Substance Use Disorders/ Harm Reduction, LGBTQ+ community experiences, unhoused individual’s experiences, ADHD, Anxiety, and Depression. I have worked with clients to navigate systems and issues surrounding school, work, and building support systems.

I am a licensed therapist with ten years of clinical experience. I enjoy helping people become their authentic selves through the creation of a strong therapeutic alliance in which people feel comfortable addressing negative thoughts and processing life experiences. I support individuals working to overcome life's challenges related to anxiety, relationship stress, and parenting difficulties. I specialize in working with transgender and gender exploring individuals.

I believe that each person is the expert of their own experience; I work collaboratively with clients to tailor treatment to best meet their needs and to identify strategies to improve their daily lives. I strive to remain attentive to social identities, dynamics in family systems, and the larger cultural landscape that impact a person's sense of self and shape their experiences.
