There are no ideal clients. I believe they are all interesting and they are all human beings; each with their own imperfections. I have learned to listen to them carefully and help them set their own goals. Many have daily life problems such as a depression caused by loss. Others caused by stress. Some have anger issues related to the childhood experiences, others related to frustration. Some come to me because of difficulties in a relationship. Some have difficulties with communication. All my patients want to be understood.
I have 47 years of experience and I believe i’ve learned a lot. I work with adults in an outpatient setting. My clients experience have a range of problems, including depression, OCD, anxiety, marriage problems, drugs and alcohol, anger, and many others. I believe in my patients ability to heal through their own efforts. My approach is short term therapy.
I trust my clients and want them to trust me. So I listen but also interact as the session progresses. I believe a picture is worth 1,000 words. I use humor and videos related to their problems that help them with their problems.
