I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have been serving and advocating for children, adolescents, & women for over 6 1/2 years. I earned both my bachelor’s and master’s degree from Indiana University. I am a Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator (CDWF). I facilitate BOLD™, a courage building curriculum specifically designed for mature adolescents and young adults based on the research and books of Brené Brown. I utilize the work of Brené Brown in Daring Way™ & Rising Strong™ designed to help individuals explore areas related to their own relationship to vulnerability, shame, and wholeheartedness.

Welcome to my practice! My name is Laura, and I'm pleased to meet you. I specialize in several areas of human sexuality including medical disorders such as female inorgasmia, betrayal trauma, affair recovery, childhood sexual abuse, healthy sexuality, and consulting with churches and corporations on safe child policies. I will work with you in an understanding and compassionate manner to help transform you into a stronger individual that has survived adversity and triumphed over hurt as well as help you improve your sex life. I also offer several day intensives to shorten the duration of treatment and expedite the healing process.

I am a reunification therapist, mediator, and custody evaluator. I am contracted with the Lotus Group to provide these services to children, adolescents and adults; as well as their families. I am a trained EMDR therapist focusing on the treatment of trauma and its common co-occurring disorders such as substance abuse and personality disorders. While Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing was initially developed for the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), it is still widely used to treat other common mental health issues such as: anxiety disorders, mood disorders, childhood abuse or neglect, intimate partner violence, sexual assault, panic disorders, substance abuse disorders.

I hold a Masters and a Ph.D. in counseling psychology and have been licensed as a mental health or professional counselor (LMHC) since 1994. Over the past 25 years, I have worked as an individual counselor with college-aged students and adults in clinical, private practice, and non-profit settings. I also have past experience working as an Indiana University (Indianapolis) associate professor in their undergraduate and graduate counseling and psychology programs.

I work with kids and adults from all over the world, and use an integrative approach to counseling, as I don't believe that one-size-fits-all in therapy. I am passionate about helping expat adults and third culture kids (TCK's) as they live in new cultures and navigate all that entails. I specialize in working with clients with eating disorders, disordered eating, and body image concerns. I help clients reframe negative thoughts around food and their body, reduce anxiety around fear foods, feel more comfortable eating in social situations, and cultivate self-compassion and trust.

Dr. Markle specializes in working with adults and young adults/college students with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, body image concerns, and significant life events. She is adept at working with trauma, past and present, and the impact trauma has on present day functioning. Dr. Markle has over 20 years of experience ranging from serious mental illness to personal growth.

My approach to counseling is client-centered; I work with you to create the best-fit treatment to your needs. I work with adults, adolescents, and children on a variety of issues.
