Rooted Hope Counseling is owned by Kirsten Edwards, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 18+ years of clinical experience in schools, at a large Christian agency, and in private practice. Kirsten loves helping women and girls see their immense worth and helping all kids and families who are struggling and may feel anxious, stressed, and worn down. She loves finding fun and engaging ways to connect with children and supporting parents to problem-solve challenges. Kirsten also enjoys walking alongside clients who would like to explore issues of faith, and she offers Christian counseling for those who are interested.

Hello! I’m Dr. Kala Taylor ,(She), I currently work private practice with (The Psychology Center) in Chicago. Previously I worked psychotherapy in the State Government Correctional setting under the exempt licensure title Clinical Psychologist/Sr Psych. Inmates under my care have described my therapeutic approach as "nonjudgmental" and "compassionate." My personal experiences have led me to cultivate a deep empathy for all beings. and I’m committed to being (not just inclusive but) welcoming towards “others.” My experience working in mental health has led me to focus on working to help individuals with personal challenges.

I believe deeply in the ability we all have to grow and create an engaged and meaningful life. My role as a therapist involves a steadfast commitment to developing an understanding of my client’s perspective. Self-empowerment, radical acceptance, and authentic human connection will be the cornerstone of our work. I utilize strength-based, affirmative, and neuroscientific theory to guide us... but healing doesn’t happen via theory. It lies in you—your hopes, hardships, successes, and infinite wisdom. Velma is licensed social worker who holds a master’s degree in social work from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Velma has experience in providing clinical recommendations to both state courts and private agencies for children and families in the Illinois child welfare system. She is described as authentic, funny and kind and hopes to assist people on their path toward being a better version of themselves. She strives to offer guests hope with a different perspective, using both humor and silence. She is solutions oriented while believing that all guests come with their own processes.

Rebecca Davis is a licensed professional counselor who earned her master's degree in Counseling from Eastern Illinois University and master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lindenwood University. She was inspired to become a therapist during high school, where she found her passion for relating to and helping others while volunteering on the teen staff for the Operation Snowball and ITI (Illinois Teenage Institute) programs to help work with other teens. Over 25 years of counseling experience working in school settings, where she provided individual, group, and family therapy to children

Natasha is a licensed clinical social worker who holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Bard College and a master’s degree in social work from Washington University. Often described as calm, patient and compassionate, Natasha hopes to work with guests in Illinois via telehealth, sharing her experience working with adults and children who are living with severe mental illness. She has worked in a variety of settings, including residential treatment, outpatient case management, homeless shelters, behavioral health units and nursing homes.

Currently, as a therapist at Willis CC, she describes her ideal guests as parents with children, aged birth to 11 years, who are experiencing any challenges; parents with children who have identified disabilities; children experiencing anxiety, including severe forms such as Selective Mutism; and parents who have concerns with their child’s Individual Educational Plans.

Hello! My name is Michelle Wong (she/hers) and I’m a provisionally licensed therapist at Innovative Counseling Partners PLLC in Oak Park. I received my training and Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adler University. My approach to the therapeutic process is integrative and I create a non-judgmental, safe, fruitful, healthy, and fun relationship. I value empathic understanding, compassion, diversity, and creativity.

Dana holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Benedictine University, a master’s degree in criminal and social justice from Lewis University and a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Lewis University. Dana is described as loyal, funny and dependable and brings an eclectic approach to therapy. She is able to really listen to her guests and help them determine what they need. She is open, honest, forthcoming and caring. She enjoys being a therapist because she likes helping people, even if all they want to do is talk. She is non-judgmental in her approach, as well as affirming and accepting.

I am Carolyn Franklin, a licensed clinical social worker. I am a skilled therapist with over 30 years in the profession, working with children, adolescents, and adults. I have conducted individual, group, couples, and family therapies. I have worked with clients challenged with anxiety, depression, relationship/family issue, and many other concerns. I welcome the opportunity to work with you. I truly enjoy my work, and my clients have been successful. Jada is a licensed social worker who earned her bachelor of arts and science in psychology with a minor in sociology from Quinnipiac University. Jada also holds a master’s of arts in social work from the University of Chicago. Prior to joining Willis Counseling and Consulting, Jada worked supervising a mental health support and suicide prevention text line for teens. At WCC, Jada hopes to work with those age seven and older who struggle with addiction, anger, anxiety, body dysmorphia (BDD), boundaries, dating and relationships, decision making, depression and domestic violence.

Alyssa Cline is a licensed clinical social worker who earned her master’s degree in Social Work from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. She decided to become a therapist after working as a caseworker in foster care for years and wanting to spend more time helping the parents and children process hard situations.

Alexander Bauman is a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Social Worker (LSW) and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) based in Illinois. Holding an MSW from the University of Kentucky and a BSW from Northeastern Illinois University, Alexander has amassed experience working with dual diagnosis substance abuse mental health clients in inpatient settings. His diverse therapeutic expertise includes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and more.

The facility is located on a main street with free parking. This is a private practice with a private waiting room in a very comfortable & soothing setting. Look for the yellow house with raspberry trim. Hours are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. When you call, we will do a brief intake, verify your insurance benefits & schedule your first appointment. We do not have a waiting list and can schedule your first appointment within the same week.
