I believe that all people have the potential to overcome whatever obstacles are in their life path, and our relationship is very important in helping you overcome those obstacles. So with that in mind, I will initially spend time just getting to know you and helping you feel comfortable and understood. You can expect a compassionate listener who will help you express issues that sometimes are uncomfortable to talk about. I will also help you establish goals for our work together that will be clear from the beginning of your treatment until the end.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a widely practiced form of treatment that I like to use as it examines our thoughts/feelings connections. I also incorporate an "integrative" model, utilizing traditional psychological interventions, mindfulness, and exploration of the effects of good health practices such as exercise and nutrition on mental health.
I began working in the mental health field in 1981 and have worked in hospitals, schools and private practice settings. I have worked with a wide variety of mental health conditions which has given me the ability to easily develop rapport with clients in assisting them on their journey.
