Hello, and welcome to my page! I work with people who have a wide variety of conditions stemming from relational and environmental stress. I believe that we are naturally programmed to heal, but often we rely on past coping skills that are no longer functional, and this blocks the path to healing. I think every symptom once served a purpose and that change can occur by looking at how and why these symptoms developed, while at the same time trying new behaviors.

Currently sessions are conducted virtually- Dr. Waseberg is a psychotherapist and professor of counseling psychology. He helps individuals and couples struggling with relationships, trauma, depression, anxiety, PTSD, eating disorders, grief, alcohol/drugs, abandonment, anger, OCD, social anxiety, phobia, bipolar/borderline and other psychological issues. He digs deep into the roots of your underlying issues in a safe non-judgmental space with empathy. He has rich experience providing counseling in private practice settings as well as Inpatient Residential Treatment, Partial Hospitalization-PHP, and Intensive Outpatient-IOP settings.

Transitions in life such as birth, illness, death, divorce, aging, or career change, can be exciting, but also, devastating, confusing or scary. There can be a variety of reactions to these challenges, and at times having to make choices can leave you feeling stuck or depressed, and unable to make a decision. My passion is guiding women through these life transitions with compassion, empathy, and support. As a Clinical Social Worker, I have learned how important it is to get to the heart of an issue and work toward resolutions, skills I learned working with patients experiencing life altering illnesses.

My job is to guide you towards change and help you unbelieve false narratives about yourself that are holding you back. Much of my work is focused on working with LGBTQ people, self esteem and managing relationship issues. I also specialize in working with gay men in recovery from addiction. Additionally, I work with co-occurring mental health conditions such as trauma, anxiety, and depression.

Rick is a Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor and Trauma-informed Clinician who takes an authentic approach with his clients. He is licensed in Indiana and Illinois and is currently accepting virtual clients. Rick is a yoga instructor and a veteran with years of trauma and addiction management experience. He is trained in ACT, DBT, EMDR, TF-CBT, IFS and Mindfulness. Rick has also completed Dr. Karyl McBride's WIEBGE therapist training and can be found on the WIEBGE therapist registry. this is geared for adult children of narcissistic parents.
